Default Leveling up

Which AAs should I be getting first while soloing to level. I am headed down the AGI line first atm, the CAs just dont do anywhere near the damage of Ad3, M1 spells for me atm. Plus they seems to miss alot more and since I cant recast them quickly like a resisted spell I figure I am better off getting the melee crit first. Should I respec and get all the CAs once i have enough for the final ability which would hopefully help with the misses? Or finish of agi for the berserker buff then move on to CAs?

Also is it possible to macro a spell with your pet as the target? I tried to set up a heal macro but it gives me the "there is no player of that name in your group" message.

Default Re: Leveling up

I just made an a mystic alt, and am wondering the same thing. From what I understand, the best way to stay with soloing is to start with the combat tree.

I read through the entire AA thread stickied in the Mystic forum, and it seems to really only address raid builds. I'm taking this as either 1) it doesn't really matter for instance/solo play (don't really believe this though) or 2) there are a lot of tenured EQ2 Mystics in these forums and they've lost some sight of the solo/instance/casual gameplay.

Would love to get some feedback from others on this and seeing it included in the Mystic sticky, along with general gear strategies for the solo/instance/casual gamer.

I'm not sure as i betrayed from defiler at high level but whilst playing around with specs i found that:

without max melee crit the combat arts are pretty weak....

without a big two hander and at least 1 point in every combat art the agi line alone becomes pretty weak....

The beauty in it is that they work extremely well together.

Supplementing them with str line maxxed after that and then branching into stamina for double attack just sweetens the whole deal

Probably for low level (less than 30 aa) i'd guess getting the strength line to keep ur pet healthy out of aes and doin nice extra dot dmg with some help warding u up would be a safe bet.

or possibly a partial int line for the extra dot and full spell crits whilst trying to ninja as many of the additional dmg arts from the other lines as possible.

OK, this makes sense. My main is an Illusionist, and everything is sequential there. I was talking with a friend who plays a mystic main, and he said essentially the same thing.

His recommendation was to put 3 points in each of the combat arts to form a foundation, and then focus on the str tree. After that, branch out into the agi tree, then come back to wrapping up the combat tree.

Sound about right? Thanks for the advice and insight; I'm really enjoying the class (though it's still really early)

I am now level 30 with full crit and almost done with the CAs. I would definilty recomend doing it that way. At the low levels you level to fast for your crush/pierce to get caught up and it gets to be a real pia to land those CAs. Now that my skills are aproaching maxed for the level I am mowing shit down.
