Which is better Defiler or Mystic - Page 2

DPS is infinite. Healing is not. Thats basically all I can say. And all that needs to be said.

I've heard a lot about defilers being better, mystics being better, blah blah. I want to decide myself, so I'm trying them out. Both. But, it would be useful seeing a lil list of differences between them, written by someone who has tried both.

Just look at the spell lineups. Mystic abilities are more suited for group utility and they have a few raid buffs that are useful. Defilers have more wards, better wards, their wards have heals added on, more debuffs, etc. But yeah a defiler outside of the MT group is better off being a mystic.

what more wards do defilers have ?

i count 4 abilities that are not from AAs that ward

this is single / group ward(mystic has too)
ward pet that dies to the first AE
Bane Line a reactive ward proc plac3ed on the mob

mystic has Stoicism and Oberon and Oberon

theres no defiler ward that has a heal component , thats Stoicism

the difference between Defiler and Mystic is that Defilers buff more raw HPs than Mystics get a group stun effects cure that works while being under stun effects , their direct heals are slightly bigger and cost hp to cast while the mystic temporary increases the hps when he uses a direct heal

Soul ward, death ward, and with the mythical their primary wards have healing components. I would assume thats what they were referring to?

If you add up the hps from the 2 single heals and the group heal, they equal near the amount that a defiler buffs. If you're a MT mystic who has an effective rotation with a combination of those heals and your wards (not just using wards only) and you can still keep your wards up at all times, then you can buff the same health as a defiler does.

I however am an OT shaman and rarely run in the MT group. My husband is the MT and he says he would rather have a mystic in his group over a defiler any day. Why? Because he's well over 20k hps in a raid and he'd rather have the 15% DA, STR buffs, Spirit Tap and Prophetic Ward (for those high nox damage mobs) from a mystic rather than an extra 800 hps from a defiler.

i've played both, i have recently betrayed my defiler to a mystic b/c our guild needs one cause they seem as rare as fuck. from playing both sides i can say that a mystic is much much more enjoyable. It also has alot of versatility that you cannot find with the defiler, also if you want to do any dps go mystic cause defilers dont do damage they debuff the mob to death! While defiler gets things like death ward and such we are still very capable healers and can keep right up with them. Canabalize which is a nice aa that the defiler gets really isn't needed if you plan to get a mythical and raid in a decent raid guild cause i think most raid guilds are running 4 bards 4 chanters which should sustain you with more then enough power.

Many people keep citing that Mystics are rare. Anyone wonder why? If a class is in demand on raids, then more people will roll those types of toons. If not then they are rare.

Mystics are rare because many raids prefer defilers over mystics to support main tank and off tank groups, so people don't roll mystics.

For Noxious mobs, the raid may want a Mystic in the MT group, however, they may swap is out as soon as that toon is down.

The Mythical weapon was starting to make more of a perception difference for both MT and DPS groups. Now that Spirt Tap was severely nerfed, its not nearly as much a difference.

Ok, so who rolls a duel defiler set-up?

BTW- Mystics are not in the MT group because defilers are worthless anywhere else. I am just saying..

Oh, and not to mention that if you are not running a mystic in your raid you are missing a lot of really nice debuffs. Something that most of this expansion requires.
