Default Mystics and Duoing

Hello, Im new to this Forum and EQ2 in general really (was a EQI player for years).

I have a 32 mystic right now and play with my brother a lot (both in the Coast guard an ocean and 3500 miles away from each other, so nice way to keep in touch). He is working on a Fury.

My question is- Later on in the higher levels, whats it gonna be like for our pair to duo, and what would generally be our strategy and good specs? For me right now I've beengoing for CA's and am branching into trying to get 100% melee crit now. Him, I dont even know. Can we expect to be a strong pair, and what would be a good third type to add in to make a powerful trio?

Thanks for all the info so far I've gathered from here.

Send me a message on Crushbone whenever. Name is Pogo (surname is Stick, Im a Frog after all!)

One of you should re-roll personally ... a Fury/Mystic? bah. If you wanna be a good duo be like a Bruiser/Mystic, or a Zerker/Mystic or a SK/Fury or a Brigand/Mystic (or fury) ... two healers? ouch.

mystic/monk or bruiser and for the 3rd type you'd want illusionist.

If you want fun do an illusionist/mystic combo.

Actually, my wife and I have played a Fury/Mystic combo from the beginning, now level 80. We are an awesome duo... I am a melee specced Mystic, and she has tremendous spell damage. We siut each other quite well, in her quick heals and HOT, with my wards... and our killing speed is quite good (though not super fast). We can also finish each other's HO's

Definitely a good team , and a pair welcome together in any group, or easy to form a group if you like.

Play what you enjoy ... why follow the "normal" set.....

Dalerien,
How do you guys do on heroics and "tougher" encounters? What are some good classes to add for a good trio?

No problem at all on Heroics... though ^^^ blue is about our limit for sure safety. One thing I should say here... my wife and I have all spells at Adept 1, with the odd Adept III ... and only the Master II spells granted by level choices. We both have Mastercrafted armor and weapons... with the odd Legendary piece.

Actually, just about any third class would be good, though a plate tank might be the best. We have run with a Zerker and a guard and had great success. We also do well with a Troubador that can kite some ! We also have a blast with a coercer that can mez adds, and add dps.

Enjoy the team !

Well, I hope your brother as the fury started in a good zone with you. I play a defiler and my wife a warden....but I planned on betraying to mystic from the start; I was just more familiar with the evil zones so it made lvling and scooping up AAs much easier and faster.

We are both going melee spec to make sure we have enough DPS to take on heroics. People say bah to duo healers but our spec is more geared for damage at the expense of making our heals better....but since we both have the ability to heal it really doesnt matter. I ward and if things go bad she can heal but it really never seems to happen that much....but we are still low lvl and working on getting the AAs we need to be effective. We are only at 25 AAs at lvl 25 and would like to get more so we can be extremely effective in melee.

Anyway, some folks say it would suck but I have asked in the EQ2 forums and they say a druid/shaman would do fine if not great. We did a brigand/fury duo in the past as well.

Oh, Im in the army but my wife is here with me!

Try a Monk / Mystic combo it rules.

I bring a dirge l77 buffbot as well..... now why is it 77 you ask.

Open l77 versions of CL, EF and LS, LP instances that still drop t8 loot, and they are heaps easier to duo. I regularly duo Caverns, hollow, Crucible from start to finish with a Monk.

Even better, get the monk/bruider to fd around caverns while your entarage follows, no trash kills, all named. done in 20 mins.
