Alright, so for my newbishness to be allowed. I would like to note now that I just recently have switched my main raiding toon from a Necromancer to a Mystic (One of my best gaming choices... ever to date ).. Currently, the person I was going to bug the hell out of has gone MIA, so, you guys get bugged instead (hope you don't mind)..

I run into a problem when raiding... I never know exactally what to do in a sense when no one is dying I'm hitting the mob and well, boredom sets in.. I also run into the problem of being the swap around healer most times which makes my life difficult..

So I have a few questions..

1. Would someone mind outlining and explaining the difference in AA specs I need for either being in the Mage Group or the OT group? I dunno if I should just stay the same for both or not..

2. Is there a secret to maximizing my healing/warding? I seem to do okay, but not quite as awesome as I see mystics do constantly..

3. DPS.. I know we are melee based, what am I looking for in DPS gear, and weapons..(I do have my mythical, so I probably just use that?)

4. Healing gear, whats good whats not, what generic stat/stats should I be looking for.

IMO I wouldn't really change my AA spec for healing OT or Mage group. I would suggest having Coagulate to help keep the squishies alive. Other than that you can make good arguements for both DogDog AE avoid for the random help he can give and the mini wards. But ROA on one of your mages will make them very happy, prolly to the point they pull agro and get one shotted, cuz thats what mages do.

In the mage group spread you buffs out as best you can to get their hp up, keep them as close in hp as possible. Cycle your ST wards on them when the tanks are undercontrol. And Stoicism is a mages friend, it doesnt slow their casting. So imo with big AE are inc 15 seconds out cycle st wards on the mages, hopefully they dont choker it away, but prolly will.

On trash, tell the mages to give u dps buffs and go in and smack the mobs. On nameds back out and babysit the squishies.

As for gear. Get a Rune Etched Helm(first named in SOH), after that your life is easy. Get heal crit up to 70-75% w/o group. Heal mod 800-1000 or so. Then find some reuse, cast speed gear when you can. Those numbers arent exact but should give you a good target to shoot for.


Oh yeah, if you can post what mobs your guild has killed, so we can tell you what gear is available to you rather than telling you to get the Avatar Chain BP, when your guild isn't killing switchmaster.

As a mainly-caster group Mystic (I have been swapped around a bit more recently, which I'm fine with) I did try the int spec for a while, with fairly good results, but recently changed back to Agi/Wis/Sta spec. I keep a Str/Wis/Sta spec in my mirror as well, for times I'm in the OT group on more difficult named, but usually stick exclusively to Agi/Wis/Sta.

IMO, contrary to what Kaizer says, dog is pretty much worthless in a mage group. Mage have this knack for all standing just out of heal range, in 3 different directions, and miles from the mob, so the procing ward/avoid does nothing for them. I keep it as back up, as I said, but in my "normal" group it brings very little benefit.

As far as buffs, I generally (for named, it changes a bit on trash) put Premonition on the necro (if he's on), and the least-hp mage in the group. If one or the other is missing, I might get it myself. Ancestry I generally give to the wizard, sometimes the troub, and sometimes myself, again, it really depends on who's in the group and what we're killing. Avatar is almost always on the bard. They get, imo, the best bang for the buck seeing as they use every stat, lol!

I agree with Kaizer on the stats you should be looking for tho. 70-75% heal crit, 800-1000 heal mod, and all the reuse/cast time reduction you can squeeze in there. If you're as lucky as I am with the hat, be prepared for a long wait. 3 months and counting here =/

Also agree with Kaizer on casting for AE's, except I generally throw group ward up first, then toss a ST on one mage, Stoicism on another, and if i have time, another ST on another mage before it goes off. I also try to time a group heal to land a second after the AE (I run ACT timers while I raid so I generally have a good idea when they're going to hit) for good measure.

Hmmm... Alright.. Currently, the mobs I am raiding with consistency are pretty much most of ROK (Even VP, Trak just got added to the list..) and mostly clearing trash/couple TSO named for the main raid force.

So, for my wishlist right now I have Rune Etched Helm... What other pieces should I try for, and for the craftable Greater Shard armor, I know the shoulders, but what other pieces should I focus on getting first?

T2 BP is pretty sexy =) I have 2 peice bonus on T2 healing set (had 3 but replaced the gloves with DMG)... oh yeah speaking of those, get the Dark Mail Gaunts, they're mega-sexy. The set from RE2 is a good solid set to get (even 2 of the 3 pieces) as it used to do pretty good for me when I first started raiding.

Yeah, that's what I wear, but I also have 3 TSO raid pieces (well 4 but i only wear the gloves for crit mit). If you actually have OLH procs then getting 3 piece might be beneficial for you. Supposedly the 5 piece bonus is pretty cool.

I just got my Raid TSO Bracers tonight (Yay for being the only one needing them /blush)..

My gear atm, until I get more shards consists of...

Crap Jewelry in all positions (My bad on that one)..
T! Shard armor : Helm, Legs, Boots, and Shoulders
ROK 77 set: Chest piece (needing more shards atm)
VP set: Gloves (Have been passed over for the boots 3 times now /sigh)
TSO Raid Set: Bracers..
Weaponry: My Myth, Shield of Decay, Censer of Shamanic
Charms: Horn of the Protector, Frost Healer's Brooch

I do have my Collar belt... and I'm kind of at a loss on getting VP patterns with us gearing up a couple guards.. So I figure, T2 shard armor is my only main option.
