The non-MT mystic slot is probably one of the most versatile roles you can find yourself in on a raid. You're juggling MT buffs/heals, group healing, debuffs, and DPS. Enjoy it. With decent gear you can solo heal a DPS group.

Over the past week or so, this has come to my attention

Sure can, but we don't ever tackle anything tough enough to keep me on my toes (not yet, that is, but we're planning on changing raid targets next week!)

I know you've probably gotten all the replies you'd want, I thought I'd go ahead and throw in my thoughts, as I've done both the Defiler and Mystic in raids.

My toon began as a Mystic but after hitting 80, we were reeeeally lacking a defiler so I betrayed. I raided as the Defiler for nearly 2 years. I did everything -- MT, OT, DPS Heals.

I, like others, enjoyed the stability in the MT group, but where I really enjoyed playing was in the OT group. I was fortunate to have a top notch OT and I found that when the OT is doing their thing, my parse, though never as high as the MT defiler, was usually 2nd or 3rd WHILE handling all the defiler debuffs and group warding. My OT was using interceed pretty liberally while we were crashing through TSO to help mitigate a lot of the damage our MT was taking. This REALLY kept me on my toes, because I couldn't slack on one thing or another, I HAD to make sure my group was warded, he was ST warded and that I was debuffing.

Semi recently, I betrayed back to Mystic. For one, I NEEDED a change. I was getting burned out on the Defiler and I needed something new. My new guild had a glut of defilers but no Mystics, so I took the plunge.

Its been a "re-learning" experience but well worth it. I find myself with lots to do and lots to pay attention to.

With that being said, I wouldn't view it as a demotion. I will say this -- and part of this may be gear, as you can imagine, after betraying, I had a lot of pieces that I couldn't use anymore, but I felt like I had more.. umpf healing wise with the defiler and I think the MAJOR reason for that is the Defiler myth. That heal attached to each ward is HUGE and I really miss it.

Wait, the MT Defiler can't handle all defiler debuffs and group warding while keeping the MT alive? I'm confused.

I didn't say that. I said I handled them. We had 2 Defilers and my debuffs were mastered.

The MT defiler could have handled it just fine if needed.
