I am going to making the swap from defiler to mystic very soon here and I have a question about the shaman AA's that alot of people are using for Mystic.
1) Why do Mystics spec dog cures? I understand the AOE avoid as a defiler but I see alot of people shorting themselves on the ROA enhancement and speccing 8 pts in dog cures. From what I have seen of those when it actually does proc there is usually nothing to cure and if there is you are likely already casting your cure spell. Are you guys doing something to make that more attractive? Ancestory on dog perhaps?
2) I also thought it was strange to go 2 ranks in ancestral channeling, do you guys find you NEED that second tick to be beefed up?
Again all these comments are coming from a defiler who plans to be a mystic soon but is not yet.
1) no mystic or any shaman specs cures.
2) in SF the answer was no, but we have a lot more HP than we did last year, so the answer is yes.
also you and that defiler should read these boards esp. the stickies if u think dog cures is a good idea.
I dont think it is a good idea, in fact I think it is terrible LOL. I just saw several people had posted specs with the 8 aa in the dog cures and could not figure out why, since I dont blindly follow advice I decided to ask some questions and I am glad I did. Saved me some testing to determine that yes in fact dog cures still suck as a mystic.
Hmm I understand the point about channeling. I have never seemed to need the two points as one is usually fine. I may take another look at that. My group just never gets taken down that low to where the second tick does anything.
it depends on your gear. our raid force rolls with 40 to 80k HP. When AC came out at level 90 it was plenty when gear was 20 to 50k.
Who posted a dog cure spec in this forum because they need to be laughed at if they haven't already, and if you are going off posts on official then you're doing it wrong. scrubbies who post there won't listen to good advice.
Meh I was looking back and it was old info, but to my credit it is still stickied!
stickied posts are stickied for the OP. If you want to read replies start at the end and go back until its no longer relevant.

I'm spec'd with dog cures. For awhile, I would get in raid groups with priests who were perhaps not as good at curing as they could be, and we needed all the help we could get. My toon was so badly geared at that time that my re-use/cast speed made it difficult to keep up on heals and cures simultaneously.
Now, my toon is geared and I don't group with the aforementioned priests anymore, so I'm gonna spec back to RoA.
I only add my 2c because I do think that in some cases it's a good thing to spec dog cures... though 85% of the time it's not going to be, for most people.
p.s.
Also, I never took the second point in AC. Waste of a point imo. It always crits for a shit ton with only one point in it. If you need that second point, something's wrong...
edit: if people in your group have 80k hp, reading posts above, I guess the second point in AC could be worth it. Personally, I don't have to worry about that :-)
IT'S NEVER GOOD UNLESS ALL U RAID IS TSO WE'VE BEEN OVER THIS A THOUSAND TIMES BUT HERE IS THE XPLANATION ONE MORE MOTHER FUCKING TIME:
When dog AE procs, it lasts for ~5s. When dog ward procs, it lands and stays there until absorbed or 30s pass.
When dog cure procs, it's instant and then its over. That means that whenver it procs you have to magically have dets that haven't been cured. In both SF and DoV the dets are group cure based and in almost 0 situations can u just leave dets up for long. This means that your strategy can never be like welp i hope dog picks up the slack because if he doesn't, it's fail.
NOBODY SPEC DOG CURES THIS I COMMAND.
