Lots of mmo's have had round the clock pvp over contested stuff, it isn't exactly new. Normally, you have to fight the whole time though, instead of standing in immunity. I guess it takes less electrons if everyone is standing around and SOE is just trying to save on the power bills.

I've been to old pumpkin head in LP during EOF, and our group got flattened by the Onyx zerg in between pulls. Still good fun though. I wouldn't keep it up around the clock unless we could kill it.
