lol it was already taking a miniumum of 10 seconds to cast spells, and i swear at one point they killed my pet, i hit recast, got up took a piss, grabbed a drink, came back and it was still halfway done.

If I had fraps on i'm pretty sure my computer would have exploded.

Let me break it down to you:

This game is built on a principal that grouping produces better results then soloing and raiding produces even better results then grouping. Original token system functioned in reverse of this benefiting soloers, and diminishing rewards to almost zip in raids. Finally realizing their mistakes we got writs introduced. Anticipating farming for tokens, we got a requirement on classes/exiled players. Unfortunetely since that system was in place for so long and not all classes performed equally in solo, it has created a largely disproportionate class distribution on PVP servers. This made it equally difficult to complete the writs for groups and soloers and made matters worse then they were. So now we got writs that actually do work - they encourage people to group up, they provide increased benefit for rolling around in larger numbers. What SOE has never taken into account is that their pathetic excuse for game engine on both client and server simply can't handle such large groups of people fighting each other.

So now I bet they are stuck behind a rock and a hard place:
1. Do we change the game to discourage large scale fighting and become inconsistent with general game theme (benefits in larger numbers)
OR
2. Can we adjust the game engine / hardware to match the demand.

My personal feeling the choice will be #1 since the engine is usually unfeasible to change this late in the game, and depending how it's written throwing more hardware at it might not produce any realistic benefits. Another possibility even if it did, adding hardware costs money which would need to be justified by increase in revenue. I doubt this whole thing is going to attract new players so this option might be struck down by the "suits".
