I have been in the WAR beta since June last year and I was initially pretty skeptical about what I was seeing - it was real rough in the very early beta. It gets better and better with each update that they push to the beta servers and is starting to come together real nice. It still needs some work which is why I was personally glad to see the release date get pushed back.

I'm not in the AoC beta so I don't know anything about it. I am sure I will try it when goes to retail and then I will transition to WAR when it comes out. EQ2 is dead to me.

PS - random last thought... neither of the games will touch WoW in subscriptions. Before WoW, if an MMO had a couple of hundred thousand subs it was considered a smashing success (except those Korean games). I bet AoC and WAR will open up with 500k to 800k (maybe 1M at best) and then slowly atrophy from there. Most MMO'ers aren't PvPers so alot of people aren't even going to try them.

I don't get why someone would want to transition to WAR when it comes out, unless AoC sucks.

I plan on hopefully not touching WAR for a year or two. I plan on playing AoC until it's just flat dead, then I'll make the leap to war. And hopefully by the time WAR is dead to me EQ3 will be out.

I am going to play WAR. With the WAR release date getting pushed you could get a solid 6-months of AoC in before WAR launches. That's plenty of time to play a game, love it and leave it.

WAR is going to be like this:

Get to the max rank in two weeks.

PvP in the same scenarios fighting the same people and capturing the same things over and over again in contested zones.

There are no raids or ways to keep people interested in that game for very long at all. It will be awesome for a little while, say a month, and then get stupidly repetitive and boring.
