Can you please explain what this does? and how it fixes the problem? Cos as far as I can see it there's no way of fixing it by what you suggest? kthxbi

target_pet = Targets your pet
usea Vampirism = Use ability Vampirism (casts Vampirism)
assist = assists your target
: = each line must begin with a colon
; = semi-colons are the same as '/' in macros

It targets your pet, casts Vampirism and then assists the pet (your current target). So if your pet is targeting the mob you will then begin casting Vampirism and assist it to target the mob, which you can then begin casting.

vampirism is a true AE so unless you have your pet melleeing then the orb won't be close enough to hit the mobs. and if you have your pet melleeing you need to have BP up. any way your cut it at the current damage this spell just plain sucks.

don't they remember how much we disliked having dumbfires that have out of encounter AEs?

right now im scoutskilled for testing and sometimes i use vampirism on it. i can tell you that the only reason to cast it is MANY MANY enemies in aoe which i didin't see in rok so far.

I was messing around with it today in MMIS. It was doing about 25-30k vs the groups. Casting it on the mage pet with BP up.

the dmg is ok but a bit under powerd considerig that taking any dmg will terminate it. imo that is where this spell looses it's luster.

The only way I can see this spell being worth anything, is under the following circumstances:-

1. you specced Bloodpact
2. when using the mage you set it to /pet melee (to get it in usable range)
3. you specced down the agi line and use the scout for dps (maybe with our 140 AAs this might become a viable DPS option to the mage pet - I've yet to test and compare it)
4. you only ever group/raid, as the spell is useless for solo, unless someone can confirm you can cast it on one of your dumbfire pets (IDK - just something that popped into my head as being the only possibility for solo - maybe I'm a nub for even mentioning it :P)

So, maybe there's more to add to this or maybe I missed something (I'm sure someone will point out my errors only too gladly), but in general the spell will only really be of value depending on your chosen AA setup and options for play (solo or grp/raid) I think it might be decent if you spec to suit, but it will take a little testing between mage and scout pet setups to see what works best. The most important thing is Bloodpact - if you haven't specced for this - then this spell is truly worthless and with that you will really only get any extended use from this spell if you cast it on your pet within melee range of the mob & tank. Certainly the biggest gripe I have of it is the fact it really has no use at all for solo, and given that SOE make RoK overland zones solo then this spell really was not thought out at all by the devs - I think it's clear now - the devs have designed the spell purely for grouping, and the overland zones as a nursery to get us all grown up to level 80 - after that the huge overland zones will have no fucker in them.

Agree with item 1.
Re: Item 2 - in most situations you are at a net loss dps wise going mage melee with orb up. If the encounter allows you can set pet up to be within range. Or you can hit pet melee, resend pet, then hit pet ranged, resend pet - she should be within range at that point.
Item 3 - scout pet still sucks ass
Item 4 - I have found (spec'd for pet rescue) - i can cast this on myself only soloing - dumbfires seem to die too easily from barrage.

Bottom line - I am still trying to figure out this PoS, as spent most of 70-80 soloing and only now raiding and grouping more. But the fact that taking damage kills this makes this too situational.

I know I will catch flack for this..

I have been using the scout pet and enjoy it.. DPS is not terrible, still 79 so i haven't been able to test with vampirism yet as intended.
