Re: Best Gear Available -- RoK
I have found that an item that does not appear on our gear list is actually a big help to me as a summoner. The item is the Beacon of Loathing (\aITEM -1145426180 -1830818509:Beacon of Loathing\/a). this item has high INT, STA which is good for a necro anyway, but what makes it stand out is its blue stat. The blue stat states "Reduces power cost of all spells by 3%". This is big for any raiding necro. The reason behind this is that a raiding necro most likely uses mage pet which dies instantly upon any mob AOE. To prevent the death of our pet we run a AA line spell called Bloodpact. Bloodpact uses our power to protect our pet from AOE's, thus allowing us to keep doing 100% of our dps. Without our mage pet, necros dps are reduced by roughly 40%. Point being about the Beacon of Loathing is that every spell i cast is now reduced by power by 3% allowing me to maintain Bloodpact up through the fight. Of course i still have to use hearts, mana stone, devour vigor and other power regen, but the reduced cost helps in the long run. Arguments can be made to shut off Bloodpact when no AOE is expected from the mob thus saving power. I do do this when i can, but as everyone knows, alot of mobs have multiple AOE's. If i miss recasting Bloodpact before an AOE, or it goes off early, the raid just lost 40% of my dps. Also, turning it off and recasting it multiple times during a fight takes away my time to cast damage spells, thus reducing my dps in that way.
I'm not sure if Conjurers have the same AA and if so use it, but if they do i would recommend this item to them also.
In summary, Necromancers and Conjurers should be the first members of a raid to recieve this item as it benifits the raid by keeping our pet alive and us with power.
How do other necros feel about this item? Let the flaming begin!!
