I want to leave the suck at home.
From what I can tell in the forums, too many people come in and basically say "I'm too lazy to work out strats, gear, etc. etc. Tell me how to be uber" Screw that, I dont expect you guys to just give away all of your hard earned expertise, I am hoping you'll simply point me in the right direction.
I was in a large F&F guild that was moderately successful at raiding. I traditionally do 1300-1500 dps in Instance runs w/out a trouby, and about 2100K in EoF raids.
I've wrangled myself an invite to a raid guild that is progressing steadily thru RoK. PR is on farm status and they've progressed to the Overking. Last night I did my 1st bit of RoK raiding....it didn't go well at all. I got demolished by him and the parse. I'm all adept 3, 1 M1 (Pandemic, the greenback AoE, sorry I'm at work), and I've got to figure out how it went so bad. My INT, self-buffed, is about 850 and my crit is 36% (no potions) and my BoE is 750. I was Scout spec'd and I'm going back to Mage this evening. Which will help, I know. The rest of my AA is solid. I've researched it ad nauseum.
This leads to the logical conclusion that my casting order or gear must be jacked-up. My gear is RoK legendary Instance and Quest gear. But I do have a few areas of concern. Do I use the 2 handed reward from Anaphylaxis or WoCP and the legendary (protoclastic?) Orb from VoES that gives spell haste and some resists? Also what about Bone Clasped Girdle vs. the legendary sash from the jungle quests that has +2 crit? And the Orb earring never goes away correct?
Finally my casting order is as follows. Mark on pull, Coil, Pandemic, Animated Dagger, Swarm, Grave Disturbance, Life Tap, Bats (remember I was scout spec'd), Rot, Darkness, Life Tap, Rot, (Rez the Conjy) Repeat. Skipping Coil until it is nearly ready to expire.
I'm looking to pump out maximum DPS. I'll still do my utility stuff as well (rez, hearts, etc,) But my primary role in the raid is to make things dead.
Thanks in advance for any guidance you may have.

For your gear questions look to the gear thread at the top.
Spells, most necros hoard their secrets cause its really the key to doing very nice dps. Only thing I can suggest is that you experiment with what you got, get ACT and look over which spells are hitting the most and when. In general bats, darkness, and the dumbfires are slow casting/not worth a normal rotation spot.
The only time I bother using dumbfires anymore is if I have a cleric using DR, the other stuff is alright but rezzes should be done by the dirges.

Re: I want to leave the suck at home.
Necro's are a pretty interesting class in that parses range DRASTICALLY from one necro to another, which is probably why most keep their tactics secret. Agree with Sabutai here, just switch up what you do every time throug PR until you find what works for you. I know even the best necros vary widely on their casting orders. But a little hint I can give is try not to switch your general order mid-raid. If you do it will be hard for you to pinpoint when looking at a zonewide parse just what is and isn't working for you.
As far as gear goes, personally I like to keep BoE around 800, then wear all the proc gear I have (except for Ring of Supremecy and the sash from Nizara cause those suck), and then stack up the crit gear everywhere else. Also, Bone Clasped Girdle > all at this point in time pretty much, unless some contested or trakanon gear replaces it.
Good luck, the fun of this game is figuring it out, not being told how to play (at least for me)

Re: I want to leave the suck at home.
Spam Coil and Rot each and everytime it's up..., if you wanna depend on LB for your parse results just spam that to when you can, just hope it's not before some named AoE's and kills you (was having a noob day in PR and just seemed to LB when mobs were AoE'ing ^_^)
Like Shri said, necors are different for each necro you see, some will be mages spec, some scout spec, some ppl concentrat on heals so you are a back up, some are tank spec...each one is necro...
if you want to go down the root of ppl telling you are shit and that your DPS sucks...tell them to semg the feck off and say it's just a game...i'm enjoying it....or if not...do your Epic Quest line

Was wondering why spam Coil as it has the longest duration of all our dots. Wouldn't it be prudent to lead off with that and renew it every 26 sec to save power and to cast something else . I agree with spamming Rot as its duration is shorter than its recast. If I'm wrong please tell me so.

Cause every time you cast it it does like 1300 up front damage because of your +spell gear.

Thanks, for the info. I tried it last night and avg. 1600-2400 in Maidens.
I still need work on my consistancy as my parses are all over the place.
