Default Scout pet VS Mage pet

I see a pretty even mix of usage on pets and there's some good aa's to go with each. Which do YOU think is better and why?

It depends on the situation. Mage pet is a must on raids. Scout pet if you're in an instance group that can kill mobs in 5-10 seconds, otherwise I use mage pet. And I use tank pet for strict soloing. Each set has its own build.

Scout pet for instances except for Vaults with 9 group encounters use the Mage.

But...
It depends on the group, ie what kind of bard (if any) drige/troub. Use the pet that works best for the group setup. Dirge = Scout, Troub = Mage. Either way in a < 12 second fight the mage is lack-luster unless its a group of mobs.

Mage only for raiding although for t1/t2 scout pet has some supporters.

Imo the mage is a must for raiding because with one of our buffs its disruption is increased greatly making it easier for them to land more spells and in turn do more dmg than the scout pet could because it would always be getting Riposted , parried , etc.

I used the HELL outta the scout pet for 90% of RoK raids and instances. With the scout spec, and the lack of gropued encountrers....I seemed to parse alot higher with the scout. Once I get the mythical though there's no question. Just gotta get Nexona .......

Thats very interesting Mortdom. Able provide some parses group/raid? not saying i don't believe you, but i am in the process of comparing the mage/scout pet options.

I've parsed it myself on Raids.

At least for Conjurors, the mage pet is superior if you can get in a decent mage-oriented group (troub, wizard are a must, templar/inquisitor, illusionist are nice to have but not essential), or you're facing a lot of AoE encounters (Overking, most of PR, Sisters being the best examples). If you're stuck in a scrub group with no mage support, but you have access to melee-support classes (Dirge being the best example) then the scout pet does pretty well.

I imagine the same is true for Necromancers.

Necro has that pet berserk buff that might lead some people to think that the scout is better. Just a theory I have :P Kinda sad it doesn't do anything to the mage pet unless you keep it next to the mob and even then it doesn't do much I guess.

Mage AA line is better imo. The mage gets increased cast times and a great final ability where it conserves power and heals itself, where scout just gets increased double attack and nothing. The teleport attack sucks and doesn't do that much damage. Plus the points in the int stat increase your dps also (not significantly but more than 24 points of agi will).

I use to rock Scout pet, but have started to raid a lot more and run Mage pet for all groups. So far my DPS parse has gone up a bit from Scout to Mage. Looking forward to getting m Myth though...just need my Levi update then my guilds already broke VP so Nex is in the bag!
