basic question, but can't seem to find anything regarding it... how well does the mythical pet tank - both how well does it mitigate melee dmg and how well does it hold aggro?

those that have both M1 tank and mythical, which would you use to farm KC

The myth pet is about halfway between the fighter and scout pet for tanking. It can be kept up against a single, green ^^^ with tainted heals, but past that you're better with fighter.

If you farming KC or pretty much anywhere else though, you're best with a charmed pet tanking, and the mage pet out for DPS - assuming you have M1 charm. For a solo Necro the M1 charm is far more useful than any pet master or the mythical, imo.

Seems to me that the Master Charm has been breaking pretty often for me. I can't hold the mob but for a few minutes before I have to kill him off. Anyone else been having this issue? Even when wearing that Subjugation dagger from SoH.

can't say I agree. i prefer tank pet + charmed mage pet. i find combined dps to be higher.

* if only charmed pet tanking, my personal dps is very limited because it's pegged by charmed pet's dps. if i can successfully bounce aggro between tank pet and charmed pet via taunt, i get around 2-3 extra aggro-free nukes per successful taunt.

* I have to heal almost 1/2 as much since 1 tainted heal heals both at same time, if taunt timing / resists play nice.

* charmed pet's Aggression is much lower than tank pet's so taunt on charmed pet if you rip from it is much less reliable

* charmed pet's defense, and i suspect HP, is lot lower than tank pet's - they're lot squishier. this might be due to level difference - tank pet is always lvl 80. bottom line they require lot more healing.

you need a subj set, not an "even a subj dagger". 460 subjugation on lvl 75 pet gives you full duration M1 charm I'd say 9.9 out of 10 times. If your pet is higher or your subjugation is lower, don't be surprised by early breaks. for pets lvl 73-78 it's +/-5 subj per pet lvl from these numbers, haven't had big enough sample of pets outside that lvl range.

Altho the spectres in Shard of Fear are more resistant than avg, so you'd want 465 there for same results.

Well you pretty much always should charm a Mage pet over a Tank one. The question is more whether you can keep the charmed pet up whilst your epic pet does some DPS, or if you need to bounce aggro with a Fighter pet.

To give an example, when I clear SoF trash, I use a charmed spectre and the epic mage pet. Using a Fighter pet on this kinda stuff is just gonna slow you down, particularly on group encounters.

But if you wanna solo nameds in Sebilis then you pretty much need a Fighter pet out to bounce aggro with and take some hits. I'd say the constant in both scenarios tho is you need an M1 charm to get a charmed pet that does good DPS and doesn't break every 30s. So I'd stand by the statement that Ad3 pets and M1 charm is more useful solo than M1 pets and Ad3 charm.

i have M1 charm and it breaks just as much as adept 3 did. it's a fluff spell..

btw.. i recommend charming the coercer mobs in the bottom floors of seb they stun/stifle every pull and put out good dps.

the only way that charmed+epic+me do more damage than charmed+tank+me is if I'm willing / can afford to tank the mobs myself for half the fight. my aggro ceiling is a lot lower with charemd+epic. i suppose that i can survive most of the trash in SoF in this fashion, but kinda too prone to random deaths - i suppose less so if I also wear suppression gear in addition to Subjugation set... do you find your combined dps of charmed+epic+you to be higher without ripping aggro?

it sounds like you're charming mobs way above your Subjugation-appropriate level... the mobs at bottom of sebilis are what? lvl 79-80? I'd say it'd be not prudent to try to use them as pets with anything less than 480 Subjugation. that's a pretty difficult task to achieve with gear alone, but doable. i'd also throw in the Qeynous Claymore offhand reward into the mix before I'd try that.

is there anything interesting down there that you'd be able to do solo anyway? all the bosses i'm sure hit way too hard to heal thru? or do you just take the pet upstairs?

Well yeah I tank most of SoF since displacement gear, coupled with the fact 2 pets proc Gluttony very fast, the mage pet healing me, and lifetaps/stunning etc. are enough to keep myself up. The exception would be the zombies that stun, but then it still seems much better to have the mage pet out since it means only 1 pet gets stunned at a time and you can cure.

For sebilis and stuff as I think I said, bouncing aggro with the tank pet and charmed pet works better.

Oh and lower seb can be soloed with tainted heals, but imo you need a fair bit of heal crit gear to keep up.
