Default Macro use

Id like to use macros a little more.. and i do the obligatory assist then attack what they attack.. but my macro targets the tank and says "casting Master strike on "Tank Name"

is there a way to assist the tank while mentioning the target itself and not the tank I'm assisting?

hope that made sense.

just curious, but why would use a macro telling people you used your masters strike?

Probably so that they'd be aware to get the mob after him/her after thats been used? it usually deals substantial amount of damage resulting aggro being lost (in worst case scenario) from the tank to whomever used the MS?

I believe %a is the command for implied target, I use it for my intercede macro on my zerk, but for the most part I think its best to be a minimalist with regard to group or raidsay commands in macro's, especially raidsay since there are often times more important things for everyone else to be watching for.

of course your correct.. but sadly on my server Mistmoore if there are any raids.. my guild never tags along. and i don't think Ive ever been on one. once i gained 80 it seems it's been months since Ive been invited or accepted to any groups as i suppose most don't need necro's anymore..

as for the assisting i always ask ahead of time and add the tank's name to my assist macro...but if i'm attacking the target with a spell.. or for instance i have a macroed group telling of lifetap and to let them know i'm casting and to get ready to heal me...but if i'm targeting my tank it seems stoopid to say i'm casting the tap against my teammate when id rather it say the intended target.. having to drop assist and target directly seems odd...and time consuming in a pinch.. i don't HAVE to say anything, but the option is there and i rather like saying funny things now and then if i have a quiet group that never used the ingame voice chat...

plus it would seem rather interesting to add little skulls for my heals or something and ive as yet still not figured how to do that and make it work.

i thank you for the replies.

Have you ever been in one of those groups where you have a person who macro's every single buff and what it does, telling the raid or group? Yeah....you're one of those people.

I dont care what your buffs do. I dont care that you cast master strike once every 2 minutes and let me know that youre doing a small nuke with a debuff. As for the brigand answering, your sinister strike may draw aggro because of the almost 1k physical debuff + dmg, but as a mage, it is hardly one of the top dmg spells in our arsenal.

I dont care that youre lifetapping a mob and that I should heal you (when on my warden) And honestly, if you're casting your Drain Life spell, why the fuck do I need to heal you? It deals damage AND it heals you. Oh wait! maybe you meant LifeBURN instead of lifeTAP....

Oh, well that changes things dramatically!! Make your macro a shout, a raid say and a group say. Keep it simple, like lifeburning, 5 seconds til death! HEAL ME!!, and if youre erudite, put in that handy dandy little racial ward you get, followed by the lifeburn spell in your macro.

Point is this: As much fun as it may be for you to spam your group that youre healing them, that you give them an int and str buff, that you increase their poison and disease resists by 1k+, or fuck, even if youre just letting them know that youre sending your gay little dagger in...Its annoyingly retarded, The first couple times, ok, Ill admit, I laugh. As the group goes on, and you keep spamming that shit, it becaomes old and annoying.

So say no to making a macro letting the world know wtf your spells do. As a necro, the only kind of notifcation you need to give to the rest of the raid or group is that youre passing otu raid hearts, get in range if you want one; lifeburn so you can get a bolster, jcap and heals if youre lucky, annnnnddd....Im sure theres one more, but at 130am I forget.

But w/e....wall of txt is done...

Some things should have a /groupsay macro, but there's hardly anything a Necro does that requires one. Even LB can be kept to tells. I usually have rez and hearts in /group and /raid, but that's about it.

hey thanks for making me feel like a complete moron. i never thought or was told that was a big deal as nearly every group Ive been in uses the same things in their spells or pulls...it doesn't bother me at all but i guess your the best player in the game and noone ever pisses you off...

It's useless spam, and most people including me find it annoying. I only macro those spells/buffs that others might want to know. I only have LB and raid wide hearts macroed.
