Hey Folks, new character here - L72 necro, my first (and currently only) character. I play solo 90% of the time, and am trying to get to 80 ASAP so I can make $ and provide for alts and particiapte in raids.

I wanted to ask a few questions:

1) What should my AA tree buildout look like as I progress to 80? Right now I use tank pet and have focused on that. I've seen AA buildouts posted, but not the ORDER they are done in.

2) Items. I'm currently in full L72 mastercrafted cloth, however my 2H staff is L53 (+70 spell damage, etc.) and my rings/earrings are pretty out of date because I can't seem to find anything better. Is there a general item buildout good for solo people would recommend for L72? Charms? Ranged? 1H vs. 2H?

3) Play Style. I have to admit I don't really use Devour Essence (note all spells are Adept 3) and a few other support spells, but I seem to be doing just fine. I'm wondering if I'm missing some 'powerhouse method' of general play. I DOT with BloodCoil, SoulRot Bats, and sometimes Torrential, and then use wolves/grave for support. It all works well, but I've played plenty of games and people will come back after awhile and say "hey don't you...?" heh

Guess that about covers it - just looking to learn how to play my Necro right. I created this character because I was told it was one of the best solo classes. So far I'm having fun - I can take out most any yellow ^^ with proper planning, etc.

Any help on answering the above would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Don't worry too much about gear or AAs until you hit level 80. But if you're primarily a soloer, you will need Tainted Heals, STA and WIS tree, and the enhance tank pet AA.

The best way to 80: Rise of Kunark solo quests. Do them all, in every zone, and when you finish you'll not only be 80 but have a good amount of AAs under your belt (and once you finish with RoK you can move on to Moors of Ykesha). Not to mention much of the quest rewards will replace your mastercrafted.

Until you start grouping, you really can't understand how to play a Necromancer as a DPS class.

1) like the other guy said, WIS and STA line in summoner tree, tainted heals in necro tree, tank pet dmg absorb in necro tree. I dont have lifeburn in my solo spec, although i put 15 points into the dots.

2) RoK quests will pretty much cover all of your gear needs. Cept for decent charms. Get gorowyn rune and the thing from everfrost for those slots. ive always been a supporter of 1h over 2h gear. the only 2h i ever use is staff of the impaler, and thats just because i never got my epic done. i always seek items with high HP and stamina, since power is never an issue.

3) If you dont die much, you're soloing just fine :P I dont even have the hp to power spell on my cast bar. If you want a 'powerhouse method", reroll, cause necros are not it, at least not in a group/raid perspective. more or less, you need to learn and apply a good casting order, if you care about doing ample DPS. im sure theres a few casting order threads already going here, just look for em.

What most wont tell you; the single most important job of Necros... jumping around other players in Skeleton Illusion...

You forgot, we can turn our group into skeletons as well...Unless they have their illusions off...But its still fun to have an army of skellys follow you around
