I'm copying Opti's thread from below for myself here. Heres a link to my character.

My main question is, my guild can kill a fair amount in TSO (bracers, boots and gloves) but we've never killed Trak though we are getting close. Do you think the Grave Reckoning robe is decent, as I don't see it on gear list ( I haven't managed to get Dark Power robe yet either). I'm trying to decide if I wanna blow my DKP (although not sure if there will be high bidding as lots of the others are getting their WOE chests) on robe and then I'd use robe and pants which would then boost bloodcoil, pandemic and soulrot to make up for the 60ish spell damage I'd lose of shard set, but would the +10 ability cast and the boosted spells be enough to make up for losing like 4-5 crit, power flux 3 (off pants) and the shard robe proc? Also any other critique (aka "replace this piece with that piece) on what I'm wearing would be appreciated from some of the great necros that post here.

Good gear I have in my bags currently that I may use are VP boots, pants, enthralling ear jewel, T2 shard boots and pants. I listed both pants and boots cause I sometimes switch back and forth and am not sure what will be on players when you view.

not sure how you don't have Palace & Tomb bracers. they're rotting for every raiding guild. those will be big ticket upgrades for you. fabled bracers from Outer Stronghold are on sale often and easily compare to Tomb bracers if you prefer plat over dkp.

soulshattering band is fairly terrible dps-wise. useful for a few fights, perhaps. there is a pleothera of better rings. easiest one is bought with tokens on Lavastorm docks. Ferzul ring is on sale often as well.

lubeshian orator's symbol & glass heart are better than Tiz'rak's trinket and both super common. fabled trinket from AoB is even better, but definitely requires more luck - not as rare as the fang from Abbey though.

i'm assuming if you're saving plat it's for ethernauts ear.

if you don't have bloodthirsty chocker you should be soloing Fear every day religiously. that'd be your biggest 1-item upgrade.

belt from kor-sha is slightly better. drops pretty often.

VP pants+boots definitely worth wearing over t2. i'm assuming you know that focus is applied on every tick? i didn't for a while. You probably don't have the spell damage to take advantage of it (at least until your replace your wrists), but it also seems to allow you to go slighly higher than 50% BoE on Rot.

As far as chests... VP robe has its uses on AE heavy fights. 10 casting is 'ok', although funny enough it doesn't apply to Pandemic. i wouldn't wear it over t2 on tank/spank fights. Varsoon robe is fairly often on sale - that's your goal. plus if you haven't killed Trak yet, you're going to see a little bit of competition for it a few times - you got much better dkp upgrade targets.

Thanks for the quick and detailed response Twisty. I'm assuming when you palace and tomb bracers you mean wrists cause I have the bracers, and yea, just haven't got em yet. I only raid 1 day a week of the 3 my guild raids but I'll get em for sure soon cause everyone else has em now. I kinda knew soulshattering band wasn't super for dps but I love it so much, with good high stats and stoneskin proc, I love it when it says "your stoneskin absorbs 9,458 damage" and I thought it complemented my other ring which has all crit so I get some spell damage too. For the neck unfortunately I am only playing maybe 5 hours a week outside my one raid I do so spending all my time soloing in SoF isn't my cup of tea and even just a couple days ago I saw the choker sell for like 150 so I'm not gonna buy it either.
