Worry about yourself over your pet. If the gear just happens to have a good pet focus, all the better, but if it's junk for you, don't wear it.

We still have to worry about pets to some degree but not too much. If I had the choice of Spell Haste over PowFlux or EmpMin I would probably take the haste for the simple fact that I DO notice a dps difference casting MY spells faster. Pets tend to bring down your stats in ACT by about 20% give or take. But IMHO, as a necro, I'm gonna stick with gear for me.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have been wondering about something of late. I have started using my Ooze crawler on a couple of raids and from the pet gear buffs available, only minion's resilience seems like it would have any benefit to it. Would that be a correct assumption?
