Re: Our tank pets lack...progression.
Whoa guys, whoa. Stop the arguing please. But, on that note before I shut it down, It would likely take one or two artists using pre-existing models to make these changes in about a week. In that week, the rest of the art department could focus on other, more substantial art products. Like say, give us more textures and styles of armor. Or, you know, a more varied array of combat art/spell animations.
Since the art depo does not deal with things that involve "balance", I dare say that giving us progressive pet graphics would not be a "waste of time". Now, if they had to pull a dev from another department to get this done, then yes, it would be a waste of time.

"I" most likely meant him however, it's irrelevant to him actually doing something more "useful" since he is in charge of how he spends his time. That's why I respond to people who feel so compelled to say "do something more useful" because it's totally meaningless and irrelevant to the thread. If it meant shit or was going to mean shit, the complaint would have actually had some success by now. It's like everyone who posts it on every fluff thread believes 1: the posters of the fluff don't want deeper changes and 2: that they will be the one that gives the dev team the epiphany," hey! lets actually do our jobs!"
Fluff threads have their place and do a world of good. Obviously they aren't mechanics changes but there are already enough of those threads so everyone who feels compelled to comment on "time wasting" should just back away and let those threads be or post their mechanics pet peeve(s) without touching the fluff at all.

Re: Our tank pets lack...progression.
i was expressing my opinion on fluff changes, it is relative to the post. i don't view my self as, nor did intend to bring some monumental change by way of my post.
one can't ignore the fact taht many fluff changes have taken place in the past few weeks. actually having devs respond and act on their feed back makes players want to keep asking for moar and moar, this in turn gives the false illusion that the class is being worked on when in fact nothing other then "gear bonus" and a few "ok" new AA have been given to the class(and these came with the new expansion).
do keep in mind that many players don't really understand how class balance works but all players can comment and /feedback on what looks cool or what fluff they want. that's why the lvl 66 pet was changed back to it's original graphic so quickly but summoners still don't have shared stats even thougt me and a few other summoners have been asking for this for years.
again these are all good ideas, i said that before and it was not my intention to stop fluff threads.

The 66 pet changed because he changed it and we wanted it back. No pet shared stats is a design philosophy that Fyreflyte has already commented on so you can't use that as an example.
I keep in mind most people don't know much about balance. I also know that those who often act like they do, don't and don't see what's going on with the dev team. The fluff does not take away at all from "real" development and is nice quick and easy with a lot of payoff. For the real issues, the dev team has been working on them for the last 7 months at least and for summoners specifically just said they had a plan.
It's a good thread, should have just left it at that.

ok vampirisim (lvl 80 spell) how hard would it have been to remove the double fail proc? still has not happend, why? because there isn't enough feed back. only a hand full of players care/understand how useless the spell is in it's present form.

No, it hasn't happened because Aeralik doesn't know how he wants to deal with it and has said he's not touching it yet since he's looking over the class anyway. It's the same reason Coercers took forever and Troubs/ Inq's are still dealing with useless reactives. Fluff and feedback volume have little to do with why we haven't been fixed. What you posted is still no reason to comment on fluff threads and every reason to make your own or just not post in them.

doesn't know how to deal with it? if you belive that you're seriously delusional and if you think these dumb fluff changes aren't useless you're also living in the dark. fluf wont make a lvl 80 player have more fun with his necro, fluf wont get you an invite to group, fluf wont help your raid beat an encounter, fluf basicly wont do shit... so yea it's cool and all but enough fucking fluff .. i'm fucking sick of hearing how this pet got changed or this spell now looks different.. who gives a fuck, lets make the class worth a shit then lets worry about how pretty it looks or how well the pets scale.
fact is i can post on a fluf thread and argue that more fluf is not needed.. nothing wrong with that and my post is made because of the recent fluff over load that the class is seening instead of actual important changes.
necro = pretty pets wiz = better RoD, why? custumer feedback...

This, so please stop using my thread as a flame war battleground. More comments on how our pets should look, in your opinion of course, would be greatly appreciated.
Since I have already stated my stance on tank pets, I would like to move onto our mage and scout pets. Our scouts mainly lack a coherent theme. They go from shadow beings to vampires. And, how lame is making the progression from one tier to another a simple change of the gender?
This issue is a bit hard to address as some people like the vampires, so making them all various shadow beings isn't really an option. I for one like the idea of taking the soul of another being and turning it into a twisted shadow of its former self that follows my every insidious command.
As for the mages, the only real gripe that I have are in relation to the lamia and drachnid pets. Neither are undead, and as such, completely ruin the theme and progression of our mage pets. It's sort of like giving us a damn gargoyle as a tank pet. Sure, he looks damn good in his mastered form, but he doesn't fit the theme. We already control a wraith/reaper, what would have been the harm in making our next pet a ghost wrapped in a witch flame (aka, green flames) robe? Or since a wraith/reaper is essentially one of the strongest of undead beings out there, make it our t8 pet and make the flaming ghost our current wraith pet. Not quite sure what to do with the lamia, though.
I was going to suggest that the devs give us a /petrace command, but then I realized that most skeletons in the game are human. It would take entirely too much work for them to code a skeleton into the game for each race. Though, you have to admit, it'd be awesome to have your skelly tank running around the game as the skeleton of any player race.
