Necro's in EQ2 seem to be controllers of dark forces with a specialty in life and death as opposed to exclusivity so it doesn't really bug me. Lazy pets like the smoke puff and shadow to bug me though so I'm hoping those get touched soon.

See, the shadows are for me, the most thematically correct scout pet that we have. I mean, to me, they are the souls of some scout that I have ripped from their body, and manipulated into being this twisted shadow version of its former self. The first vampire is a good progression from the shadows for me because it advances the arts of being a necromancers even further. Instead of taking the soul out of a boy to avoid it rotting, you simply corrupt the soul while it is still inside a living host, which then corrupts their body into a state between life and death. Bam, a vampire.
But the lamia makes no sense what so ever. We control death and disease, not the darkness. I could see a Warlock getting a lamia, as they (the lamia) are servants of the void. But for us, a witch flame engulfed soul ripped from the underworld suits us a lot more, if you ask me. It'd be like the conjie mage pet, but in reverse. Theirs is a flaming entity in a robe, and ours would be a ghostly being in a flaming robe. To make it look not conjie-esc, the flames would be green, since that is the color most associated (for me) with dark magic fire.
But hey, to each their own, I suppose.
