Default Our tank pets lack...progression.

Well, in my eyes they do, any ways. I mean, since the latest revamp, we start off with a fully armored skeleton and seem to bounce around the various levels of necromantic expertise like a super ball on crack. For me, pet progression would show as a steady building of appearance from the basic up to an advanced undead juggernaut that is complete subservient to our wills. So, below is how I feel our tank pets should progress. Fell free to make your own progression list, or to comment on mine.

UKI
Either the old bat pet or a hand.
My reasons for this? For the bat it is simple, what's easier than controlling a dead sentient? Controlling a dead animal, of course. As for the hand, hard to get more simple to control than a part of a dead person...

UKII
A basic zombie. The next step up from a dead animal would have to be a rotting meat bag. Since it has most of its flesh, it requires less energy to control. But it needs to use a dang weapon...even if it only flails it. Master version would be the diaper zombie but with the basic no pants male look.

UKIII
A step up from a zombie would be a mummy, in my opinion. Through use of more advanced magics, you were able to take out all the rotting bits from your zombie, and wrap it in cloth. With the cloth to amplify your control over its movements, it is now faster and stronger.

UKIV
Next up would be a basic skeleton with a weapon. With no flesh, it requires more magic to control, but has less fleshy restrictions. Even faster than the mummy.

UKV
Same as now, an armored skelly.

UKVI
Transposed from the next tier, our next pet is actually two pets, an undead knight, in all his battle aromor, and his steed. While harder to control, attacking from horse back has made this being even stronger than your last.

UKVII
Near the pinnacle of your necromantic powers, you have been able to create your own juggernaut. Manufactured from only the best parts of your fallen foes, this PATCHWORK being is like nothing your enemies have ever seen before. Yes, finally, we'd have a pet that we should have had from the very start of the game. From the first time I went near Nek Castle, I've wanted to control one of these. Needs to have a weapon.

UKVIII
Since the next expansion will be increasing the level cap, I feel that our next pet should be an armored Patchwork warrior. Armor it in a way that is similar to the drolvarg, that way it can look armored up, but still let people see that it isn't just some ogre. Plates across the chest, fronts of the thighs, gloves, and spiked shoulder pads. Maybe even boots.

Bring on your ideas!

I like the way u think but i am not so sure about the patchwork, since it will prolly look like a golem then which looks too much like a conjy's pet and necros dont want conjy looking pets :P

I like the ideas! I have an Alt Necro, I think the patchwork is a good idea, but make it nastier looknig, as stated above to not get confused with golems.

tbh.. why waste dev time on fluff? look and feel is important but i would not devote this much energy to it right now, intead would rather devs focus on mechanics feedback.

btw cool ideas

Because fluff tends to be quick and easy and does far more for game longevity than it's normally given credit for.

it's quick because there is not balance issues to worry about but it's still wasted effort. screw having the "coolest" graphics if the class can't perform.

you can choose to agree or disagree with that but either way no one that knows the class/game will agree that the class is stable and only needs some fluff. i don't get group/raid invites cos my toon looks sooo coooool... do you?

but not taking anything away from the OP those are some cool ideas and changes similar to those would make for a better leveling experiance for new players.

No I don't but fluff is usually low hanging fruit and it doesn't seriously take away from them doing balance related changes. It's just silly to bring up "I'd rather they not waste time..." every time someone mentions fluff because it usually is negligible and affects people in non- quantifiable yet positive ways.

If you are thinking an idea is cool fine say that but don't mention the time wasting because if SOE is competent enough to do what you want in the first place, they are competent enough to know what's time better spent.

i don't do they? because the current issues that plauge the necromancer have been around since late EoF... so 3 expansions and just now they are starting to put forth some effort into the balance. you really think any fluff is being done for any reason other then to fend off actual worth while effort devoted to the class? the fact is there are 24 classes and necro is my first toon and still one of my favs, now that devs have finaly comited to giving the class some attention, i don't think they should focus that attention to changing the look of pets for the 5th time.. it's dumb leave them as they are, you only level once. my necro has been 80 for close to 2 years, he was lvl 24 for 2 weeks? do the math man
