Default Odd lifeburn behaviour

Does anyone have any idea as to why this would happen?

(1178589976)[Mon May 07 22:06:16 2007] YOUR Lifeburn hits a deathless gazer for 7680 disease damage.
(1178589977)[Mon May 07 22:06:17 2007] YOUR Lifeburn hits a deathless gazer for 4540 disease damage.
(1178589978)[Mon May 07 22:06:18 2007] YOUR Lifeburn hits a deathless gazer for 2715 disease damage.
(1178589979)[Mon May 07 22:06:19 2007] YOUR Lifeburn hits a deathless gazer for 2365 disease damage.
(1178589980)[Mon May 07 22:06:20 2007] YOUR Lifeburn hits a deathless gazer for 70 disease damage.
(1178589981)[Mon May 07 22:06:21 2007] YOUR Lifeburn hits a deathless gazer for 7680 disease damage.

I always thought that the calculation to determine how much each tick of LB would do was based on your HP at the time of cast. Looking at this though, that doesn't seem to be the case. Am I doing something wrong here or this bugged?

Every attack's damage done to you is multiplied by 5 and done to the mob. Your starting HP and buffs have no effect on it.

EDIT: Also, those gazers are hitting you awfully hard. Do you switch to low-resist gear before lifeburning to boost the damage?

So Unstoppable Soul doesn't affect LB?

In my old guild, when I casted lifeburn, I had a macro to ask the mystic for a bolster. If the bolster went off before my first hit with lifeburn, it upped my damage substantially. I also get HP buffs from anyone who can afford them. Last week I was able to do about 110k with lifeburn.

EDIT: Your HP at the time of the first hit with lifeburn is what matters. That determines your maximum damage per tick. This is why getting bolster helps substantially. This means that buffs DO matter before your first hit, but buffs AFTER the first hit of lifeburn mean nothing. Test it out.

Thats what i thought that the amount of HP when you start the LB is what mattered.

Yeah, that's how it is. Talk with your mystics and get it optimized. Another good thing to is get Jester's Cap from a dirge before casting. This lowers the recast time of lifeburn substantially as well. Do everything you can to optimize your lifeburns and you'll raise your DPS by a ton.

The damage doesn't "tick." It's 5x the damage you're taking (after your resists, and before the mob's), and nothing more. More HP at the start of the burn just means you have a better chance of surviving.

Actually, you're incorrect. More HP means more damage. Give it a test. I was at 10500hp and did 10500 every time lifeburn hits. My old guild and myself did a lot of lifeburn testing. This is something I'm 100% positive on.

You're 100% wrong. If you were pulling 10500 every time lifeburn hit, you were getting hit for at least 2100 each time (likely slightly more, since most mobs have at least some disease resistance).

The only Lifeburn that starting hp affects (other than survival) is the one in EQ1, which would drain your life and do a straight amount of damage to a mob equal to your hp.
