Well after buying the game about a week ago and promptly rolling my necro, i'm now at level 31 with 20 AA and I have a few questions..


Do we ever get useful dots that last a reasonable amount of time? I mean my main dot's duration is 1.5 seconds.. What's that all about, my strategy in a group is relegated to spamming Lifetap and Pestilent Blast, throwing in rats on named mobs and the occasional AoE lifetap. My wrist is killing me after only a couple hours spent in a group.

So far i'm enjoying my necro and the game immensely but, is it going to stay this spam-style oriented all the way up to 70? Is every class like this?

In a couple levels i'll get the first rogue pet, assuming they are both the same rank which is usually better dps in a group, mage or rogue pet?

Yes, we are a "Spam Style Class" but not as bad as some fighters/scouts.

We're a faster casting mage class, our longest duration dot is 26seconds after AA's, although you could consider our swarm pets to be dots as well. If you plan to be doing good DPS, plan on never stop casting, in which case ou're wrist might be hurting for a while, until you get used to it!

The fact that our DoTs don't last very long is somewhat an advantage. It may be more work in the end for us, but it allows us to cast more and get our lich dmg in more often. Once you gain some levels and you get some proc gear, you'll notice your DPS go up drastically. You will also want to cast rats/grave as often as you can. They are not skills that are only for named fights as the recast isn't very long at all.
