Here's my n00b question to christen the new board...

WTF is the goal of this board? Are we trying to burn n00bs or help them? ...just 'checkin to make sure we're on the same page.... kk thx.

I think Pinski has a good handle on the purpose of this section. My hope is for it to be a place where true noobs can ask true noob questions.

Now, if the questions asked here are polite and respectful, and not the same questions asked and answered in 28 other threads on this board already, I believe the people who answer those questions will be cool about it and provide information without being dicks.

On the other hand, anyone coming into this section with a chip on their shoulder or know-it-all attitude (just like anywhere else on this site) should expect harsh abuse.

So I think that noobs who post legit questions here will get respect if they give respect.

But there are no special rules for this section, other than the ones that the appointed mods choose to adopt, if any.

One of the reasons I assigned mods to this section is so they could maybe help out any noobs that were getting unfairly abused.

Hm. Well it doesn't say "eat raw and uncooked" but it does say "handle a bit more delicately than a rump roast."

From that I'd gather that sarcasm, wit, a bit of fat trimming and high heat once and a while certainly will not hurt the Noob, but overuse and prolonged high heat/heavy seasoning/over zealous use of the knife may leave you with a chunk of chewy rubbery mystery meat on your plate.

(btw, they go really well with sage and proscuitto and a nice sauce. I learned that on Food 911 from that guy who flirts with housewives!)

lol yeahhhhh, I have a knack for saying things that I realize after the fact were pretty *ahem.*

I was giving directions in raids one night when Shaggir was raiding with us. We were both standing in the spot I wanted people to be standing, so I told the raid "come to shag/me please!" This started a bunch of snerks and giggling and I followed up with "shag OR me, wankers!" They were off and running already, though, so it was pretty much a lost cause from that point (this happens more than I'd like to admit).

Someone helpfully photoshopped it to look more like the raid's impression of what I'd said. Yeah, he added an extra line, the beast. I can't fire him, he's the mage group's troub. ><
