Legendary vs Fabled
Allright, I got a good newb question that shouldn't be moderated into oblivion.
Is there any real meaning to the line in an items description that lists it as treasured/legendary/fabled? I know that, theoretically, treasured < legendary < fabled. But with EoF and now shard of fear, I have seen a lot of items from supposedly lower tiers that have better stats, saves, and/or mitigation. For a long time, my philosophy was to ignore the colored word at the top, and just look at the actual numbers. But, recently a couple of my tanks friends were telling me that fabled gear absorbed more damage than legendary, even if the fabled gear has less mit. You can see how much damage will be absorbed by holding your mouse over the mitigation number on your persona screen. I don't care about mitigation too much because I can't even draw aggro from a monk, (hell, i can barely draw aggro when I solo) but it makes me wonder if the same is true for resists and/or the damage or hit percentages done by my weapons.
So, has anyone else heard of this? Got any insight?

Re: Legendary vs Fabled
They don't absorb more damage. Use the one with better stats, fabled just makes it look cool =/

Re: Legendary vs Fabled
Guess i'll have to double check next time I'm in game and get screenshots. You can get a lower mitigation number with a higher absorbtion rate.

are you on about courts loot?
there's a miti penalty on items that are x amount of levels below the mob you're fighting so it could be that.

It should be mit = actual amount you get. I thought they changed that stupid relative to level mechanic a while ago, but I could be wrong.

Re: Legendary vs Fabled
Crystalized Plasma Wand is Legendary, don't know if there is a Fabled item better than it when mixed with vine-wrapped boots. And Grizzelfazzles walking stick is a legendary item that was THE item to have as a mage. Way to go SOE!
Edit: Rereading your first post has me thinking that i didn't get enough coffee this morning.. sorry for my lack of actually trying to read what you posted.

No, it's still fucked up. The difference isn't huge, but level still affects mitigation and resists. I'd guess it affects weapon stats too, but I never bothered looking into that.

Re: Legendary vs Fabled
Its about amount of points available to spend
From what I understand ... To create a lets say level 68 item you get a point pool to start with.
Lets say treasured is 100 points to spend on INT, or STR or whatever
if Treasured for a level 68 = 100 points
then Legendary for a level 68 = 140 points
and Fabled for a level 68 = 180 points
(KEEP IN MIND THESE NUMBERS ARE JUST TO SHOW YOU MECHANICS, THEY ARE NOT THE ACTUAL VALUES!)
You can see that fabled gear can in effect be better than legendary due to the amount of points the developer can put into it.
There are exceptions to this rule and usually it is due to the 'effect' that the item gives you. The mechanic that Devs use to figure out the 'cost' of certain mechanics is a bit flawed and you receive legendary rewards such as grizzalfazzles walking stick.
So, the only thing Fabled means (truly) is that there is more points given to that item to make it better than others of the same level. Its up to the player to decide what items they want, regardless of Treasured, Legendary, Fabled.
One more point, A tresured item in KOS does not equal a treasured item in EoF. EVEN IF THEY ARE THE SAME LEVEL... the points generally increase between releases (even for Game updates).
