you press a lot of buttons...

oh and you back up and back in a lot.

I don't get why so many people think playing this class is some kind of art form. but i will admit the good ones are nearly nonexistent or have stopped playing.

I like the basic combat system and it had tons of potential but that was all killed when they made the classes so bland and basic. Not to mention once you are fully geared and mastered and you find that special rotation in your CAs or spells, that is all you will be doing for 99% of encounters. If you want a true ez mode, roll any healer.

it give sony credit for trying their best to implement it, but whoever designed these classes and the idea of queued hotbar spamming needs a birthday party scheduled with Dr. Rockso
Quite fond of the combat system myself aside from the queue was what initially drawed me in after playing a bit. I do like the HO system not quite as robust as the Skill Chains in FFXI but I do enjoy it when groups have to work togehter on that.

Far to much solo content as well.. I play MMOs to group not to solo 80% of the game before there are groups.

I'm still not going to give up yet I'm sure I'll find my niche so far I've enjoyed the Coercer and Illusionist quite a bit from just a pure fun standpoint not necessarily because I have to think. I've never been the biggest fan of melee but I'll start exploring a few more melee classes.

My dirge is pretty challenging solo. Balancing debuffs, stuns, directional and stealth attacks, and knowing when to cast which is the key but I would guess it should come easier with more experience. In a group its pure easy mode though. Most stuff dies so fast that its not even worth debuffing and for the most part I am there for my buffs. I could do a large part of my job by just /following someone and having the right stuff up. On named mobs things get a little more interesting. I would imagine in a raid they move back over to the difficult side. Since the debuffs are important as well as rezzing duties and DPS.

Some will look at that and think someone melted a GI Joe, others will see art. Same concept.

I wouldn't say 1 class is more 'challenging' than the other, 'engaging' would be a word better suited. Since in the end it's just a video game, and a fairly easy one at that.

I played a guardian for far too long, it's really a one or two-trick class. Pull, taunt, wait for someone to warn they're about to whack the thing, plant/reinforce/rescue/whatever and if spike damage is too fast, use the temporarys to slow it down. Group and raid aren't much different, just have to know the zone and gear trumps knowing skills much of the time.

Solo it's really the same, except ignore all the above and just mash CAs until OOP or one of you is dead.

I like SK's solo better after single-pulling forever. Grab a bunch and mash buttons. Unlike guardians though, a little picking and choosing of what's currently up can make a difference.

My dirge is the most challenging solo, probably because I suck most with it, but can do things my guardian can't without potions or help.

It really depends on what you're after.

I've played a Warlock, Templar (mostly in raids), Inquisitor and Brigand. I found the toughest class to play was the Brig...but only because of all the maneuvering I had to do. I wasn't used to that. Others wouldn't have a problem with that at all.
