Icon14 What class requires more skill?

What class(es) out there do you all feel require the most "skill" to play as oppose to mashing the same hot keys in your usual rinse and repeat sequence what all out there requires more thought before mashing in EQ2? I'm looking for a challenge but something that is well rewarded when played well.

I know this is a very broad question and a lot of responses will differ based on opinion but would love to hear what you all have to say.

That's a tough one to answer imo. For almost any class to be played to the absolute limit requires skill. Even as a DPS class I have to react on the fly to maintain high DPS without upsetting an ancounter.

If you mix in responsibilty though and feeling you are making an essential difference by excelling, I would probably say a healer or tank. If I screw up and my DPS drops it won't usually cause a wipe. Healers and tanks screwing up are more likely to cause issues with an encounter. Next on my list would probably be a key debuffing role.

It will also depend on how you get your kicks. My 'reward' is being at the top of a parse or seeing huge numbers flying above a mobs head and I only play a /autoattack / afk Ranger :P

Depends also on what you'll be doing most, solo, group, raid?

Some classes take more skill to raid with then to solo/group with.

Thanks for the replies.. while unfortunately being new I will find myself soloing a lot at lower levels just since most of the population is high level. I've been trying a lot of different classes and from a play style standpoint I'm enjoying the illusionist quite a bit, i'm sure coercer would be rather entertaining as well.

Was a Shaman/Enchanter/Bard in eq1 days shame there really isn't a true equivalent of them in eq2 particularly the enchanter.

I think I'll be giving both bard types a fair try as well.

Even though I play a ranger, I would have to say the class that really requires the most skill is healer. I don't mean your common run-of-the mill healer in a pickup group, but the ones in the high-end raids who are on top of cures, pre-healing/warding, and always on top of everything and never have to be told what to do when it's time to do it. Healer is a hard class to be dedicated and committed to, and I believe it's very rewarding class because you have everyone in the group and/or the raid depending on your being there, on the ball, and on top of it all the time. All the classes require skill to play well in the end game, but healer is probably the most unappreciated by the masses, because like rangers, there's a lot of shitty ones out there, you'll know a good healer when you get one - because you won't realize they're even there, just that everything seems really easy all the sudden.

If you want to go above and beyond the average of the players in the class - Coercers, Bards and probably reactive healers (IMO like druids, always having the heal not be preparing for after like a ward is down like a shaman; and still having time to maximize their skill by casting their dmg and debuff abilities as well).

Every class requires skill but some are a bit more mindless than others until you get into certain raiding or even normal situations. Most guardians in groups dont need to know how to be the best tanks in the world if they can hold aggro, but just because you can hold aggro against 800 dps in a group doesn't mean (even fully raid-buffed) that the guardian (even with gear) is going to be able to hold aggro all the time and be able to react to situations on the fly as well.
