Guild Splits?

OK, big time newb question here. I see people on here talk about getting guild splits. In another thread, they said everyone in disso probably gets over 100p a month from the guild split. What I can't figure out is, where the fuck are they making that kinda money from? I can see making a little bit of cash here and there from unwanted loot, but if they have 24 members, they're making at least 2400 plat a month? Raiding costs me an assload. If I did nothing but raid every night, I'd likely be out of cash in a month. So i figure I (and the people I raid with) must be doing something wrong. What is it?

Guild Bank selling:-

1. Masters.
2. Attuneable fabled.
3. Transmuting gear and selling mana's/Selling gear to NPC merchants.
4. Alt's buying no-trade gear for plat.

And now:
5. Epics dropping plat.

I can see masters, because those guys are probably fully mastered. There is not a lot of attuneable fabled gear though, unless you are raiding kos. I guess I can see xmuting and selling the results earning some too, but would it be worth on the order of 100 plat a night?

And does that mean that when those guilds were new (before everyone was geared up), they went a long time working out of their own pockets, having to farm a little between raids like I do.

This is insanely easy if you have 1, a well geared raid force and 2, a large server population. My guild used to farm HoS in KoS days for loot for selling...we got generally around 400 to 600 plat just on that instance alone a week...combined with Lyceum and we made about 700 to 800 plat a week. Other loots you can sell via looting rights...and would make about 40 to 50 plat on a Labs and DT raids...let alone EoF raids (prior to the raid selection thing) for set loot and loot in EH and FTH. I have heard of guilds since the EoF selection piece thing that were paid 400 plat by a plat farmer so he could get all 7 pieces for a toon...so he could transfer that toon to the bazaar to sell it for $$.

Since you're on Mistmoore, I'll use tribes as an example for you. After a few months of raiding, most of the core members have leeched a lot of the loot that they need out of the easy to medium raid zones. At that point, they can A.) transmute the loot and sell the byproducts, B.) Sell the loot via a auction channel (for Mistmoore, its /joinchannel raid) and C.) Sell raid spots for key flags and smartloot raid drops (think Soulfire updates in MMIS). Also, look at things like the Emerald Hall's recipes. The Rigid Scale Bow was vastly superior to anything easily attainable in tier 7, you sell a few of those on the broker and bam... easy money.

My highest guild split was 178p for a month. I know others in different guilds who have exceeded that by 50p or more.
