Contested Mobs

Ok here's my noob question of the day. Contested mobs...are epics like the Giant Spider in Sinking Sands contested or should I say used to be contested. The reason I ask is prior to RoK I'd never seen this mob and now she is always up. Another one is the big dragon on the coast in Pillars of Flame.

Terrorantula is probably always up now because many people are over 75 and she now cons GREY. There's also a lot better loot in RoK than the crap this bish drops. I'm guessing many of the usual lower-mid lvl epics just aren't being bothered with because ppl are busy getting from 70-80 and just can't be arsed with them.

That's what I figured. So she was a contested mob at one time? Sorry aside from avatars I don't really grasp this contested mob stuff.

Terrorantula literally spooked me when I went over a hill and saw this big ass spider. Very cool looking. Look forward to the day she is gray for me....long way from now

Terrorantula is a nasty mob.. when I was in SS duoing with my bro, I used to bow-pull her just to piss him off. I died too, of course, but hey.. . sacrifices.

BTW, I think that anything that is not Instanced is technically Contested, although the word Contested implies that various people are vying for the same mob(s).

Edit: Also, I agree. Terror and other DoF epic mobs have horrible loot. You should only ever kill them once with a toon.

Ya basically any named ( epic or heroic ) that multiple groups have access to at the same time can be considered contested.

The loot isn't that bad if you do it for the level it is tuned for(60), but if you do it anytime afterwards, then yes the loot is bad.
