Default Mitigation/Protection (avoidance) calculations

I'm wondering if there is a straight forward "formula" for determining the Mit. and Protection (for shields) against higher level mob hits...

For example (because I'm gimp):

If my lvl69 Kyle Bayle's Dogmatic Greaves have a Mit. value of 498, how does that contribute to my overall Mit versus, say, lvl 79 mobs. How does that compare with Pristine Incarnadine Vanguard Greaves (I dunno the exact Mit., but let's say 450) versus lvl 79's?

If there are reams and reams of threads dealing with this, feel free to take legal action against me for not searching.

Default Re: Mitigation/Protection (avoidance) calculations

and by "overall Mit", I'm referring to the %absorption, not the raw Mitigation number.
