As an example, here's a pic I took of one of my alts:



Why are there so many artifacts in my screenshots? There wasn't even any resizing involved, all I did was cut this out of the full screenshot that was saved in my EQ2 directory with Paint Shop Pro. They ALL look like jpgs that have been compressed and saved repeatedly, even if I just open them.

I've seen screenshots other people have taken that don't have this problem. Is there some kind of setting I need to change?

Because they are JPGs that have been compressed? Disable the JPG compression option:



Then convert it with some other program, because EQ2's compression is very bad. Although, maybe it could be because it's not at 100% Quality.

Thanks, I knew it was some stupid setting or something. The slider was set to 75%. I knew that the screenshots were in jpg format, but even at 75% the results are far less than I would accept when editing photos. Bumped it up to 100% and the results are much more acceptable.

i'd suggest using another screenshot-program nontheless. my recomendation would be mwsnap which is freeware and you dont have to take the whole screen with it, as you can as well tell it, to only screenshot the window you click on (like the eq2 window) or point out a region you want to copy (like taking screenshots from the inspect_window of some item) and also be instantly prompted for a proper filename for it, so no stupid numbering and (which one of 001-8475486 was the one i do need now)

IMO, this is the best screenshot app on the market, it's free also.

You can either do a prt sc in game, then ctrl v into the program and quickly crop what you want by sizing the area of the screenshot you want to save, or it will do screenshots just of a specific sized window you have open on your comp.

For some reason, JPGs look better than GIFs on this site, at least our graphic upload program seems to handle larger files better in jpg than in gif.

eww... im using iview as a viewer for all sorts of images... i wasnt aware that its also capable of taking shots as well *duckandhide*
