What happens when you're banned?

Certainly sounds like a noob question...I've got a friend who tried to log into his account and it says it has been closed.

He can't log into support because it won't recognize his log in...the only place it recognizes his login is when he tries to launch eq2, and it says his account was closed.

When you are banned or suspended, do you get any notification? IE would it say "your account has been banned/suspended" vs closed when you try to log in? Wouldn't you still be able to log into the support pages to email/chat support?

With the number of weird technical issues that have been going on, we're trying to figure out if there is actually something he did. He's on a pvp server so I wouldn't discount the possibility of him pissing some people off, but I don't think he's ever been disciplined before.

More than likely, he just needs to log into his SOE station account and renew his subscription.

Yeah that's the odd part...he can't log into the station account management page or the forums or anywhere, says the password or user ID is invalid...also tried the password reset option.

Very strange.

When you get banned it says something like...

"YOU HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED BECAUSE YOU'RE A FUCKING PRICK : PLEASE CONTACT SUPPORT TO GAIN FURTHER INFORMATION"

Turns out it was some sort of security trigger at SOE for credit card fraud. Locked down the account until the user called in and verified the owner identity.
