Default Some newbie questions:

About how long does it take to hit end-game these days?
Is it possible to be PvP viable on Nagafen without raiding for gear?
Are Illusionists still really strong in PvP (solo/group) at lvl80? I read something about buff potions that make you immune to CC, what's that about?

A few months at a comfortable pace. If you've got friends to group with, or you get lucky finding groups, and want to level hardcore you can get 80 in under 6 weeks. A good estimate for average playtime and diligent leveling attention is probably ~3 months.

I don't play on a PvP server but I'd say yeah, easily. At mid-levels you'll probably get ganked a few times by super twinks who are still riding the recently-nerfed xp-lock mechanic, but at high levels the soloable/questable gear is really friggin good - some of it better than much of the attainable raid gear. You'll be fine imo.

Can't help ya on this one.

1. Yes. But seeing as your gear partly affects how well you'll do in pvp its best to get the good stuff aka twink yourself out the best you can.

2. I don't play a high end illusionist so I can't say anything about that but the potions your talking about are the freedom of action/freedom of mind. When used they "cure" you from mezzes, roots, stuns, etc. They have a 15 min recast.

  • Depending on the player, it could take a month of hardcore grisly grinding or 6months+ if you take your time. This does not include making alts randomly and having pvp intervene as you try to level obviously.
  • Yes. You can literally level from 10-80 and get 140 AAs and equip yourself with raid quality gear all through PvP and killing other players and not killing 1 NPC/mob.... technically. You should know that doing quests and killing mobs and named and getting loot will OBVIOUSLY help out in this process. In the next Live Update they're supposedly introducing level 80 set armor for every class that can be aquired by spending tokens that enemy players drop from pvp combat.
  • It depends again on the player. I know some illusionists that can take any class (except bruisers) 1v1. Although as a class, an illusionist cant do much if someone gets the jump on them. In groups though if they're played well, they definatly bring alot to the table and make a big impact in group/raid pvp.

I saw an 80 Sarnak on Unrest like 2.5 weeks after RoK launched.

I play a high end illusy i find that almost any class is extremely easy to kill except a bruiser. There are a few tricks tghat some classes can throw and yes there are potions for some stuff but you get around all of that pretty easily on 1 v 1. As for getting the jump on you this really depends on the class, and the amount of time it takes you as a person to react.

Plat pharmers consistently hit level 70 in their first 7-10 full days playing time. It's one clue that makes them so f'ing easy to pick out.

An enchanter epic weapon without subjugation is like a Buckeyes T-shirt without the colors scarlet and gray.
