I got 50K ally Terens Grasp faction on my Nagafen toons and checked out the gear for sale on the merchant in Terens. It's a coin toss about whether it's even better than T7 mastercrafted, and frankly I'd rather keep the T7 mastercrafted, given that the faction gear is like 5p per item, and my mc gear has a huge amount of accumulated +spell and +ca bonuses.

The treasured gear you get from doing quests all seems to have some interesting and thoughtful effects and bonuses, but it is subpar crap in comparison to mc because of its extremely low mitigation.

Is there better faction gear available in other ROK zones, or am I going to be stuck with mastercrafted until I get in a raid guild?

Teren's Grasp/Kylong Plains is for Level 65-72, that's why the gear isn't so great. Every other Faction Merchant is for 72+.

Word to LFG. Is MC the best and easiest to go instead of fabled? Considering the time it takes to hunt down treasured items and all?

With the exception of a few quest items and rare drops, you don't really get fabled except in raids. So, what many people get before they get fabled, as starter gear in a tier, is mastercrafted.

It's easy to make 5 to 10 p a day leveling in ROK (at least it is on a PVP server if you bank frequently), and you should have no problem buying a full set of mastercrafted with one day's earnings like that. But I was hoping for something maybe better than mastercrafted, but not as good as fabled. Something I could get on my own for now. That was what my question about the ROK faction merchants involved.

Since Pinski says there is better on the vendors in Fens and other zones, I'll get faction there now and see what they have.

Well to stick with the TITLE of the thread rather than the topic, i have a question (which really doesnt deserve its own thread) ... is there a faction merchant for that Tabernacle of Pain?

BTW LFG, the Rillis stuff kinda stinks to me too, i havent checked the stuff in some other places though (like JW, because all my faction there isnt close to 50k ... maybe not even combined so i havent looked.)
