Default Humor an EQ2 Noob.

I've got a couple of questions regarding EQ2, in terms of race/class distribution. I've tried to find information on what "cookie cutter" or "you can't really go wrong" races that would be applicable to certain classes. I keep reading things like "It doesn't matter what race you pick, anything works, nothing is game breaking." That may be the case, but is there a post I haven't seen for a pro/con of different races for classes? Are there certain races that do better for end game for the respective classes?

I'm leaning towards a few class/race combos:

Necromancer (Iskar)
Shadow Knight (Iskar, or Sarnak)
Paladin (Human, Barbarian, Kerran or High Elf) *rather confused on this one
Dirge (Wood elf/Dark elf)
Fury or Warden (Wood elf/High elf?)

A buddy of mine is leaning towards: Monk/Bruiser (isn't sure if he wants to be good/evil yet), and possibly Swashbuckler. Are there better options to accompany him? I tend to solo a lot, hating the constant reliance of others to play a game if I wanna play, but would hate to play a class that doesn't really bring anything to accompany a small group.

Not really looking for anything huge in terms of raiding or anything like that. I had my fill from WoW, Illidan really wasn't all that spectacular, and having to listen to 24 other idiots bitch about something got really old. I don't mind solo'ing, or duo'ing, or small parties, and would rather prefer to keep my game play in that route. Am I going in the right direction?

Thank you in advance.

Plate tanks (like Paladins) = Any race with % based hp and defensive racial bonuses.

You'll want to look over this list before marrying a class to a race... in some cases there are clearly benefits in being racist when choosing your profession.

Thank you very much, Oisin!

Oh, how "hard" is it to make evil race Paladin, like an Iskar/Ogre/Troll? If you can do it from the start, could anyone enlighten me as to how?

Pretty easy friend. You just need to do a little betrayal quest after rolling a SK.... but you may want to stall on the betrayal for a while as SKs can be a lot of fun and much faster soloing experience in the begining of the game.

Ogre Paladins 'friggin rock btw.
