Does the Alcohol Tolerance Skill Do Anything?

I was so stoked when I learned that dorfs were getting a racial in which they could poop stacks of level-scaled alcoholic beverages. When the racial respec came, I instantaneously picked that one fist! THW all those other PHAT racials, dorfs got THE HOOK UP! Too bad it's NOTRADE or we'd be overpowered.

Anyway... way back when... I thought I'd buy a bunch of stacks of Alcoholic drinks from a bartender and try and up my AT skill just for fun. After wasting coin on a dozen stacks or so and getting totally drunk with about a skillup per-stack I decided this was dumb... now that I got booze on tap I've set to max my AT again. It passes the time while chatting, armoring and soloing. I've even started drinking while PUGing just to spice things up... I'm a lush... I'm getting pretty good at "playing it sober" and can do most things drunk now.

I got my AT up over 200 through incurable e-alcoholism and still don't know wtf the skill does. I still get shitfaced just as easy.

I sad to report that AT is starting to remind me of all those crafting skills that I dinged for no good reason back when subcombines still existed.

Is this skill totally worthless?

*FYI: Trick to curing drunk on PvE servers: pick a fight with someone and get killed. No harm, no foul... all sobered up.*

It's not very useful, but it does allow you to drink more before you become drunk. Other than that, no, it's pretty useless.

Since I drink in stacks... 'probably still totally useless then? ..and why in the world would someone want to delay being drunk?!?!

in eq1 i believe there were traps on chests and such that made you drunk, and you could only avoid it by having a high alcohol tolerance. i've not played eq1 so im not sure how true that is, but i also heard that in eq1 being drunk wasnt just blurry vision but also fucked up the way you moved (e.g. you press right but your character runs forwards). so again, not sure on this, its just something i heard somewhere.

in eq2 it doesn't have any really useful purpose.

Dunno about drunk-traps on chests but yes, being drunk messed with your movement in EQ1. It didn't reverse your keys or anything, but you stumbled and zig-zagged while you ran. Was very dangerous in Kelethin.

It reversed your run keys. Up(forward) would make you go backward, etc.
