Default Duo Team Question

My girlfriend and i have recently came from eq1 and are looking to make a good duo. I plan on becomming an illusionist and she cant decide between Fury or Wizard, which do you guys think could duo stuff best, not just the solo content but the heroic as well?

duo? since you plan to go illy, her being a mage wouldnt really benefit you, unless you have a 3rd party who plans to heal you.

imo, reroll a self healing class (Brawler, SK, Necro) before you get too far in, and keep her as a fury.

My friend (fury) and I (bruiser) have been duoing (what an awkward word) for a couple of years now and we plow through stuff. I can think of only a handful of times we couldn't take something down and needed a third player to help us out.

According to her, furies heal bruisers well. Basically, the duo mechanic is that I punch things and she keeps me alive to do it. Works wonders. And with her rez feathers and my FD, and my Altruism on her, death ain't so scary.

I think we both spend more time in our duo than in groups and get as much done.

I think illy/wizard would be a very workable combination. There's plenty that complements one another -- illy keeps the mobs under control and adds a bit of DPS while wizard just plain lays waste to them. As long as the mob in question isn't immune to control effects, and as long as you communicate well, this would make a fast, efficient duo. Plus, with a wizard, you eventually get ports and group evac.

Illy/fury would be less efficient but leave more room for error. One problem is the loss of DPS making fights take a little longer -- illy DPS comes primarily from having someone up and meleeing the mob, which isn't as imperative if you have a wizard doing the bulk of the damage. And again you get ports (but no evac).

While there's nothing wrong with going the brawler/fury route, it's hardly necessary. People put too much store in sticking with the healer + tank duo to mitigate the challenge of figuring out how to not die (or how to kill fast) with something less conventional. Personally, I've always had a great amount of fun duoing heroic content with unusual combos like bruiser/coercer or wizard/zerker or wizard/coercer.

I play an illusionist, and I used to duo frequently with a Fury. It is a little slower than with a wizard, but it gets the job done, and if root breaks you won't automatically die. Either one is a viable choice, root + stifle = mobs are no trouble.

I'm part of a duo also, I play a Conjuror, the other half consists of a Mystic who has now betrayed to be a Defiler.

We kick ass to be honest; while I do sometimes wish I could blow up things just a tad faster, with his healing skills we rarely have issues getting where we want to go.

Just another idea. Have fun.
