by far the best way. there is a BIG difference between underplayed classes and underplayed classes groups and raids are looking for.
Coercers are both underplayed and not required for raids. Win win :/

If you want to get on any raid you like... do a Dirge. Seriously wanted on raids and not enough of em about.

I would say Troubs mostly... not becuase they suck but more because they cant solo as well as most classes. And most instance groups are set up for melee dps so dirges would have no problem finding a grp.

and as for the defiler solo-ability... I had no problem leveling mine. Then again .. EVERYtime i logged in I had one "Crazey" zerker blind inviting me and we would go to any DOF or KOS zone and pull everything.

What? Dirges are a popular class. Check the population on eq2players. I just pulled worldwide level 80s population from there.

Fury 2278 6.61%
Wizard
2115 6.14%
Necromancer
2053 5.96%
Guardian
1874 5.44%
Warden
1817 5.27%
Conjuror
1759 5.10%
Templar
1675 4.86%
Ranger
1533 4.45%
Dirge
1520 4.41%
Brigand
1452 4.21%
Berserker 1408 4.09%
Monk 1348 3.91%
Swashbuckler
1346 3.91%
Assassin 1301 3.77%
Warlock
1229 3.57%
Paladin
1217 3.53%
Illusionist 1215 3.53%
Bruiser 1204 3.49%
Shadow Knight
1143 3.32%
Defiler
1100 3.19%
Mystic 1071 3.11%
Inquisitor
1007 2.92%
Troubador
914 2.65%
Coercer

Dirges are far from rare.

Doesn't matter if the class is underplayed if the class isn't wanted. SKs are underplayed but when was the last time you saw a raid looking for one? On my server (LDL), it's dirge and illusionist. Also, you have to take into consideration how many of a class might be taken on a raid - you might only take one troub, but three dirges. So dirge can out number troubs 3 to 1 and probably still be pretty safe.

While this may look true it should be pointed out, most raids take a minimum of 2 Dirges per raid as opposed to 1 of most every other class. I've seen some guilds taking 3 dirges and 1 troub lately. Other classes that get 2 spots in raid = Coercer, Illusionist, Brigs, and Furys from my experience...
