I think it depends on what you consider soloing best. Inq does out-dps a warden, but I enjoyed my warden much more than my inquisitor. Of course, I'm a speed demon so SoW, ports and evac were a huge factor for me in my game enjoyment - I hate being slow and I hate travel time. Everything about the inquisitor was just slow, slow, slow until you have enough AAs and enough status/cash to remedy it.

Mellisandra makes a good point. Clerics are pretty slow, and this game has you doing some running around.

That being said, the OP did say that they would probably not like to root much, which is more in keeeping with the Wardens.

I think there may be less investment needed to get improved soloability out of an INQ though. Meaning you have less spells to master if you go Battle cleric. An INQ just needs great heals, a decent set of MC gear and a well chosen weapon.
