Default Useful duo

Ok, so me and a friend intend to start playing eq2 - I used to play before the shitfest that was DoF burnt my entire guild out, but he's new to the game, though we both play WoW.

We're interested in forming a duo thats not only good for leveling/dungeon crawling on the way, but also one thats desired for the end game. We were originally going to go with Berserker/Warden, but after hearing that every server had more druids then anything else healing-wise, and that berserkers weren't really considered dps anymore, they were more weakass guardians, i'm curious what you guys think would be best for us to level up with and then eventually raid with. Our other thoughts were something like monk/defiler - bearing in mind we would like to be able to duo shit like varsoons and fallen gate etc on the way up (rather then being stuck lfg or forced to do outdoor quests).

I appreciate any feedback

Cheers.

You're going to have a hard time finding a fighter-type that's desired in end-game raiding. That said, I'd definitely stick with shaman and go Defiler as your healer. Maybe roll the dice with Shadow Knight and hope they become flavor of the month, then you'd be highly desired because there aren't that many (good) SKs left.

Amusingly, I used to play SK before I rerolled as the resident uber guild needed a defiler... my friend wants to play healer and defiler looked fun to him and with my previous experience I agreed. Personally I found SK to be an ok OT (I used to run a sort of pickup raid for a few of the easier raid bosses with my sk before I rerolled defiler (that instanced one in permafrost, the giant king?, for example), but not really sure if it'll ever be in season, unless things have changed an awful lot.

Well, is it possible for a healer + melee dps (predator/scout) to duo in varsoons et al? If so, what one would work best with a defiler and be most desired at end game?

Thanks for your help!

Brigands and swashies make very capable tanks. They're meant to do a little tanking what with their taunt and tanking AAs. I was running around on my DPS-specced brig trioing SoS for a while last night with a necromancer for a healer and a dirge for more ownage. Mobs were high blue to mid yellow and we didn't die once.

Yeah, I'd imagine Mystic/Swash or Defiler/Brigand wouldn't be bad.

Dirge/Inq. wasnt a bad duo for me leveling up. Didnt do it the whole time but the few times I did it worked out great. A melee speced inq can put out realy good damage and both of there buffs would help eachother out. Can do betrayal at higher level if needed for whatever guild so you would have 4 solid raid classes to choose from.

No need to limit yourselves to both toons being good or bad unless you will be pvp. It is super easy and well worthwhile to run your Qeynos or Kelethin character out to Timorous Deep to do the questlines out there. The items you will get are far superior to those in any of the older zones.

Bruiser/Shadow Knight/Berserker
Fury/Inquisitor/Defiler
Any of those in any combo would work great imo.

Did you read more than the title to this thread before posting? Or do you really think this fellow will find a raid spot later on with any of the classes you listed besides defiler?

Me and my bf (ex-bf now) leveled up with a necro and illu duo'ing, which was great :P

but doesnt really help you if you absolutely want a healer and a melee class, just saying it's a great duo, we pwned everything ;)
