Account Creation 101

Hello all ...

Im not sure this is the right forum to ask but I just figured it would be the best..

I just have a question about account ownerships when they are created.

Lets say that someone under 18 has say their parents or a friend use their game card/credit card to create the account .. The kid puts up all the money ... and lets say that after 3 yrs or so the parent / friend gets pissed at the person for what ever reason lets say ummm they left their guild

.. and they call SOE, who gives them the password to the account because they are the original owner (or rather the account has their billing info listed when the account was created) to have the account shut down, or take over the account...

Can this be done even though this parent / friend never put any money/time into this account?

Pls advise..

Yes, if they are the owner than they can do whatever the hell they want with the account.

Don't be a writer when you grow up. And, legally it sounds like whoever has a name on the account gets full access. It sounds like this already happened to you so when you ask if it can be done, the answer is yes.

Nah it didnt happen to me .. It happened to a friend .. I was just tryin to see if there is any protection against this .. other than waiting till you are able to create an account with your own damn name.

But it also made me think about people that buy toons / accounts from other people could this happen to them as well?

And to clarify what had happened to my friend, they didnt shut his account down .. they actually got the pw and gave it to someone else. Who most likely stripped all the toons by now.

Yes, the original person (credit card details) that registered the account remains the "owner" of that account.

I remember back from SWG that a person from my PA (Player Alliance) decided to leave and sell his (jedi) account on ebay. For three months we saw the character logging in but knew that it was the person that bought that account. Then suddenly he decided he wanted to play again and got back on it and told us he just contacted SOE cs and made up some story and ended up having his account being returned to him because he could actually prove that he started that account.

Though I believe SOE has taken measures to prevent this type of scamming I'd tell every idiot even thinking of buying an account to be aware that this may happen.
