Actually, Bradclit, the setup is retarded because you seem to think the only real dps classes are wizards and illusionists. The mere fact that you play these classes and have a raging boner for them doesn't mean it's optimal to stack 3 wizards and 4 illusionists (including 2 in 1 group) in a raid. Diversification = a good thing.

I am having the same delema as the OP but only with 1 of our groups. Currently what we have is 2 melee dps (brig / assassin) and an illusionist, but the last three slots are really open. I want to get a bard (we both available), obviously a healer (fury or inquisitor), and for the last spot a dps. Should this last position be a melee and put the bard as a dirge or mage to take advantage of time compression but would we then need to use a troub.

So, what should we do with the last three positions?

If you already have 2 melee dps in the group, it's dumb to make the last dps spot a mage and then make that group's bard a troub just for the benefit of that mage (and to some extent the illu, depending on how good he is) to the detriment of the assassin and brigand. Make the bard a dirge, the priest an inq or RoA mystic with his epic, and make the last dps spot a ranger (if you can manage to find one worth a fuck), 2nd brig, or maybe a monk (for raid cast haste). This way, you have a sick dps setup for all 3 melee dps, the bard, and the priest (inqs and mystics can melee dps), and the only person getting screwed is the illu.
