This is a good forum to browse.

I'd probably start with this thread. There's a good pre-built Dell machine mentioned in there somewhere as well as suggested newegg components.

Yeah no shit. Dell quality has gone down the toilet. Remember when Dell laptops were good? Yeah, 5+ years ago. You can get amazing HP laptops off ecost with 256MB GeForce graphics for < $1,000. Runs EQ2 in High.

That system spelled out by Gaige is pretty sweet.

Honestly, the hardest part about buying a PC is there are so many shitty video cards with similar model numbers to good cards. Best Buy are the worst for packaging up shitty ass 5xxx, 6600 and 7300 cards which steal a bunch of system RAM and charging the same price that newegg charges for a dedicated DDR card. Also note that EQ2 ha major problems with the GeForce 8800 series.

P.S. You know in racing games when you are in 1st place and someone passes you and the announcer dude says "You have lost the lead?" Yeah AMD heard that when Intel Core 2 Duo came out. My last Intel was the Celeron 300a. ;) I've switched back to Intel cause it uses less power, much much cooler, and good price. AMD has lost all their advantages on their CPUs -- it was a nice ride but it's over.

I love my Dell laptop (M1330).

I was describing the pre-built (there are many varieties, this one being a Dell), hardly an oxymoron.
