Default Population and Learning Curve

So I have decided that I am gonna start playing this game (I chose this over LotRO and WoW) and blah blah blah. I have done a lot of researching on EQ2 but I'm still left with two questions.

What is the population like? Am I gonna find myself mostly alone from levels 20 to 60 or even 70? Also, how is the learning curve? Do the tooltips pretty much explain everything I need to know?

go thru character creation and find the most popular servers during your prime gaming time. Likely Antonia Bayle will be one of them.

Groups dont come instantly but there is chatter in all tiers constantly for groups forming, all the way from about level 10 up. Personally I would bother grouping until late 20s for efficiency sake. Head to the noob area in ROK/Timorous Deep right away.

Population really depends on the server you pick. Some servers are pretty dead, some not as much. Like Vir said, go through character creation at prime-time and it will give you a hint because the server list is sorted (or at least used to be) by population. AB and Nagafen are probably the 2 highest population servers, but AB is role-playing prefered and Nagafen is PvP so just keep that in mind.

As for the learning curve...it depends some on your chosen class, but I personally never found the game that difficult. Biggest challenge to me was always learning my way around the various zones, but you have that no matter what game you play.

As for solo/group as you level. That is often times your choice. There are solo quest-lines for all the zones that you can choose to follow that will level you pretty quickly and effectively if you don't feel social, but there are usually groups running in all tiers as well so when you want to group, odds are you'll find one in fairly short order. And of course, monitor your server forums and of course the guild recruitment pages in-game cuz when you find a good/active guild on your server that makes gettings groups and help even easier.

Thanks for the info. really good help in just two posts.

I dont expect every server to be pact at all, thats fort sure, thats just the nature of many mmo's after years and years. but its good to hear that there is still some life to some servers. of course there will be the high pops and the low pops.

i like the way the soloing/grouping sounds. i dont expect to group for everything right from the get go. but as long as there is still SOME grouping in mid level area it sounds all okay with me.

sounds like a perfect game to me. I'm sick of main stream wow and none other mmo has cut it for me so far

ive done a little bit of the trial and will be purchasing the game for sure soon ^^ (excuse the lazy bad grammer)

For my 10 cents worth - I'm also sick of WOW and can't wait to play this game - 30 minutes left on the download!
