What is the effect of mitigation on shields?
Regardless which shield I equip,
my mitigation factor doesn't change.

The difference in block/avoidance is obvious.

There is no mitigation on (most) shields. There's a protection value, which corresponds to the block statistic.

Therefore, equipping a shield will (almost always) not change your mitigation value.

The translation in German for the "protection value" on the shield is real close to the word for mitigation.
