Default Class choice help

I'm trying to find a class that fits my playstyle out of the list, and uh, isn't easy.. obviously.

First of all, I don't like sitting in the back and waggling my fingers, more of a up close and personal guy -- so mages are kind of out -- I however do not mind casting buffs, or nukes, so long as I can melee while i'm doing it.

I don't mind having to tank, my main in the game I just came from (lotro) was a tank 'cause I hated the design for the DPS class there, however I want to be able to solo with some semblance of speed.

Also, if at all possible, i'd like to raid some day, so a class that is wanted in that kind of situation would be nice, too :#

Right now i'm playing a bruiser, but from what I hear, they're kind of the black sheep out in high end content runs, which leaves me worried -- I tried a swashbuckler, but the whole "all or nothing" dependance on the ambush kind of warded me off.

Curious am I overlooking a class, or am I better off taking my bruiser up and twinking out a swashy/brigand alt for raiding later on??

I would suggest you stay with bruiser or betray the swash to brigand.

The reason i say betray is brigs are a bit more beefy and solo a bit easier due to the amount of stuns we get.

Good LUCK!!

Read around a bit and found people prefer monks in endgame stuff, so.. doing that as we speak.. just kind of going to miss the phat lewtz from TD.. but *shrug* i've got a full set, will last me a while.

Betray after you do the TD quest.

Actually it doesnt matter, any race/class can do the TD quest.

I would just betray before you start dropping PP on spell upgrades.

The sooner the better really, as you will get used to playing your final class vs trying to learn after you have leveled as the other.

They are very similar but have some differences.

You can always betray later, I'd suggest playing whatever you have fun with. If you're a decent player, then you'll be able to make the switch easily. For the most part the subclasses are so similar there's not much to learn if/when you betray. By the time you reach the end game, the classes that are highly desired today may be different tomorrow. It was only a few months ago when bruiser>monk in the end game. And I'm not sure about this - but you mentioned soloing and I think bruisers might have the edge there.

If you betray when your all Adept 3 with a few masters you would be loosing a shit load of PP.

I think most long time players forget how hard it can be to make money as a new player.

by the time he caps his level and is playing the end game raiding he won't be a new player any more. And if betraying would help his guild, I'm sure they could give or even loan him some pp to get some a3's.
