total noob question -

When people discuss items they often list them in the following format:

Helm:

• \aITEM -1728492689 1987095526:Transcending Helm\/a [Atrebe’s Satue/Imzok’s Revenge]
• \aITEM -361050828 -185912529:Skullcap of the Dark Master\/a [Contested Mayong]
• \aITEM -1860346669 -1320107994:Bloodbath Barbute\/a [Pawbuster]

Initially I thought these might be links, but they don't seem to be clickable (I'm using Firefox, if that matters). So what is this format and on the assumption that it's something useful, how do I go about using it correctly?

Those are the in-game links for the items, so if you were to copy/paste say \aITEM -1860346669 -1320107994:Bloodbath Barbute\/a into your chat window in-game it would then give you the item in your chat to click to show it's in game properties window.
