Default How do I turn off sticky targeting?

First time playing EQ2 and Ive been going through and trying to setup the controls similar to how Im used to from previous mmos Ive played over the last 10 years.

One thing I cant seem to figure out is how to have my current target deselected when I left click in open space. (Open space being anywhere else on the screen that doesnt contain a selectable object.) AKA: get rid of the sticky targeting.

I 'kind of' found a fix by setting the Deselect option under target keys to the left button mouse click which gives my left mouse button the dual feature of deselecting and mouse look. This setup works perfectly.....until I restart the game. Then the targeting gets all f'ed up and I cant even select anything. It just auto deselects.

Even if I then remove the left mouse click from Deselect key mapping, it still wont target anything until I restart the game again.

So to get the targeting the way I want, I have to remember to remove the Deselect key mapping before I log out each time. There has to be an easier solution or a setting Im missing. Thanks.

There is an option for this specifically in the options, but i cant remember what its called, since i cant go in and look atm.

All I remember is i accidentally turned it on once and it pissed me off. Id rather just hit escape when i want to clear my target rather than clearing it everytime i clicked on the screen.

You can double click on the screen and it will clear target.

I think when you first install EQ2 your auto-face is on by default. For some classes its a nice function, but for others it's horrible. You may want to look into that as well and turn it off. It comes into play alot when you are trying to run away from a mob and you tend to turn around and moonwalk slowly backward instead of running away...gets on your nerves.

Also, shouting for HELP! will break an encounter and return your out-of-combat run speed so you can get away quicker. Not sure if that drops target though.
