Default Re: returning player

I have played with a lot of bards and they are very hit and miss in terms of their own dps output; some can hold their own and some just suck. I would say dirges do more self DPS, but the purpose of a bard is to increase the dps/stats of others. If you are not casting temp songs on your group/raid mates to increase your own dps, you aren't doing your job.

Hello there, it seems like I'm returning to EQ2 after two years of playing WoW, but this time I'm gonna start the game over with one of my friends.

I have the following questions, would be nice if someone nice could answer them.

-I've read that in raids and groups the "buffer" classes are very important. Can these buffs matter _so_ much, that you don't really need pure classes?
Or is balanced, so that the pure dps classes could stand their own, without those mandatory buffs?

-Are there any good duos that work good with each other? My buddy wants to play a defiler, he just can't live without playing a healer.

-My original account only has the EoF expansion, stopped playing before RoK. How can I get the "most bang for the buck", money-wise? Should I re-subscribe and buy the upcoming all-in-one Sentinels expansion, and maybe use the recruit-a-friend option?

Thanks for reading
