question on class pick

I have just recently come back to eq2 after a break of about a year. I picked up my dirge i had wich i now have to lvl 49,
My question is, is the dirge a good pick for getting groups and possibly raids when he hits 80.

I have been considering making a illy or a coercer also, i played on in EQ and loved it but i am also enjoying the dirge.

My main goal is groups right now and maby do some raiding latter on.

I have already pretty much ruled out a healer or tank...have played both in a few diff mmo's and dont think i want to go down that road again.

I'm going to keep this short because i'm in a lazy mood.

The dirge is a BRILLIANT class for both grouping and raiding (that should be obvious though) and you'll have no troubles finding a group in T8, you'll almost always be needed on raids as bards are rather hard to come by, or at least from what i've seen.

The coercer/illy is also a great choice, as the bard/dirge, both are wanted in groups and raids very often due to power regen and DPS.
